I really don't think PK sees himself or his opinions as the end all or supreme law of music, but he thinks he's right and he has the right to express his opinions especially when prompted. The whole notion of not "understanding" music because you don't like some bands and express that belief on a regular basis is silly, at best.

As for the original topic, I haven't picked up an album since One By One and for me to actually go out and buy another Foo Fighter's album, the band will have to come to my house personally and apologize for that ****fest of an album. Even though I hold both The Colour and the Shape and There Is Nothing Left to Lose in somewhat high regards, I can't get over the fact that all of their albums just feel too much a like, even if they are different sonically (which, for the most part, there isn't that much difference).
I wasn't that big of a fan of the 2 disc set "In Your Honor", but I did like a few songs. Right around with that set is when the band lost me a little bit......but this new disc is excellent and sorry so many people feel that way about Foo Fighters. I really think they do have talent and will say that a good portion of their material does sound similar, but nowhere near the levels of Creed and Nickelback. Again, I do own most of the Creed and Nickelback albums since I do like some of their songs but not blind to the repetition of their sound. ESPG is some of the best $10 that you can spend on a cd.

"Dookie" was a really fun record. But what made Green Day great was that it evolved from "Dookie" and didn't release 15 years worth of "Dookies." "American Idiot" was the band's coming-out party as a group with something to say and to take seriously.

        Scott:

I thought more about this as I drove to and from my indoor soccer game tonight, and I need to make two revisions.

One, remove The Who from the list and add Nick Warren. His progressive house mixes are mind-blowing. Love him. The Who will slide to No. 8.

Two, I can't believe I forgot the best, most mind-expanding concert I've ever seen -- the Marsalis Family, 2003, Landmark Theatre, Syracuse, N.Y. It was the small, rare tour featuring jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis and his talented jazz sons, trumpeter Wynton, saxophonist Branford, bassist Delfaeyo and drummer Jason.

I've never seen musicians more talented and tight than that night, and I doubt I ever will. I'm a big-time classic jazz buff -- hate smooth jazz -- and I brought my brother, who's not that much into jazz. But by the intermission, he was blown away. Couldn't believe how good it was.

        Simply magic.

P.S.: I went to see the Pistols on their reunion tour in 1997 in Toronto. I was only 12 in 1977 when they did their one and only tour of the U.S. as a recording act. In fact, their final gig was in your neck of the woods, Frisco. Johnny Rotten walked off stage with this epithet: "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" The reunion show was GREAT. The band still had a ton of power and attitude, and more fury than many bands with members 20 years younger.

        Take care,
        PK

Thanks, Tendrils. Well said. My opinions are convictions, and I stand behind them. They can be changed, though, after a rational, thought-provoking counterpoint is presented.

I'm not changing my tune on the Foo Fighters, though.

Sweet the thing about Greenday is they got order and they got cleaned up at least Billie did. lol So sex, drugs and all that other crap got old. I remember when Billie made a album at age 5. I remember listening to at Kinder grade. lol We always knew he would make it. He was driven and he had talent. I remember when he quit the HS football team, to get more in to music. Also, he was the first kid with blue hair at John Swett H.S. lol No one ever messed with him about his blue hair, because his older Dave would knock you out, lol Dave was tough.

Love the song they have on the radio now... I'm guessing it's got something with the name "pretender" in the title... either way, I am digging the song.

                      The song is "The Pretender."

"Long Road to Ruin" is easily my favorite song at the moment.
