I would feel sorry for her if she seemed to be trying but when you make a song bragging about not going to rehab and you keep doing the same **** over and over again you get no sympathy from me.

And thats the jist of it...she doesnt need sympathy, she needs serious help.

But the problem I see here is you're expecting her to make a smart and rational decision while either under the influence of drugs or in the stages of withdrawal which is fueling her (or anyone else in this situation) to the source of the easiest relief.

FWIW, I don't think anyone was asking for a banning. Other threads have been closed for less (over video games no less, especially in the Madden forum) and that's the only comparison I believe Jsky was making.

I'd go with "instead of" in "like"'s place. It's a funny joke because cocaine, amphetamines, and opiates are hunger suppressants.

I use to think about addiction the same way you and jmood do, but after seeing first hand several times it is a disease, and not in the typical definition of the word but in the way that it is a debilitating problem that cant go awya without serious treatment...and thats if it ever does.

I could maybe buy that for opiates, but for anything else, I'm not buying it, especially with cocaine and alcohol. The only thing keeping people doing those is a lack of self control. Calling addiction a disease is a slap in the face to anyone who is actually sick.

Believe it or not, but you don't get on whatever substance and are magically ****ed up forever. It is possible for drug addicts to make rational decisions. If she wanted help, she could certainly get some.

It's not just one thread. The overall atmosphere on OS has gone downhill.

I agree, but of course, it's subjective. It could be that the majority of posters think the board is in it's prime discussion wise.

I really don't see how some of you think the board is going down hill. It has it quirks, but I'm spending more time then ever on OS (still not to an addiction level) because of the diversity in threads between the off topic and sports/games threads. I really don't see this decline in quality, but I do stay out of the Madden/NCAA boards
