Family guy died April 5th, 2006 when the South Park episode Cartoon Wars aired.

Family Guy is not now, has never, and will never surpass The Simpsons. It is already falling off greatly and it is only 100 episodes in, and on top of that it was at its peak when it was blatantly ripping off Simpsons episodes.

LOL @ this thread.....IMO, I think alot of you are evaluating the show way too much..

it reminds me of the Real World...they break down every situation like its a math problem

I loved seasons 1-3 of Family Guy, but as it's been said before, its just become a caricature of itself. The Simpsons have too, but again, its 500+ episodes versus 100. Not to mention The Simpsons is still watchable for plot even if its not nearly as funny. When Family Guy isn't funny, there's nothing good about it, because it's just random jokes for the most part.

Family Guy was at its best before it's hiatus, but it's still pretty funny now. The Star Wars spoof was hillarious. The Simpsons hasn't been very good since about 1995 or 1996. In the early years it had great subtle humor, and there was always a "moral to the story". Now it's just how stupid can Homer act or how many celebrities can we cram into an episode.

South Park all the way... they've constantly been getting funnier through the years... as a well written show should.

the manatees, Muhammad and the salmon helmet and Bart Simpson bitching in the waiting room killed Family Guy forever in my eyes.

Seasons 1 and 2 of FG were on par with the best seasons of the Simpsons. It has fallen off from what it once was. But, in honor, I must wear my Peter Griffin Halloween costume once againa this year!

Overall, you can't outdo the genius of Harry Shearer's writing. FG has it's moments, but goes overboard w/ certain things. SP has it's funny moments too, but gets outright ridiculous and honestly, sacreligious.

FG might have funnier shows compared to the current Simpsons, but it will never surpass or compare as a whole to The Simpsons. I think The Simpsons have been on so long people forget how big they used to be.

Simpson mania was insane when I was a kid. It's been going on for 20 YEARS! I don't think a show will ever surpass its longevity in my lifetime. Family guy will also never compare to The Simpsons memorbillia that's been out for years.

Change 10+ to 7 and I'm in total agreement. Neither are on my "must watch" list anymore.

Based on past posts, some of you might know where I stand on this already. I love the Family Guy, but The Simpsons is still LOL funny to me and won't be surpassed. They're both great shows.
