Cool. Then Roger Clemens can retire and unretire at least 500 more times.

1,000 years of living doesn't account for accidents that, for example, seperate your head from your body.

Then again, if you can live 1,000 years whats stopping you from living forever?

I can't imagine being married for 1000 years, I'd kill myself.

Still, wouldn't it be a bit wrong and downright weird to go up to a hot 25 year-old lady and when she asks you (assuming you still look good), how old you are you say "Oh, I'm 250 years old." Awesome.

She would also be in the triple digits herself.

If some kind of substance was released that could significantly increase lifespan, the #1 target would by far be women, not men.

I don't think I'd want to live to be that old. Seriously, there would come a point when you really wouldn't give a crap any more.

And we think the divorce rate is bad now. I love my wife to death, but if we lived 1000 years it just wouldn't work at some point.

Things would be drastically different if people knew they could live for 1,000 years.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I think the world would end up ********, seriously.

Think about it, if you could procreate at 18, and then at 75, and then at 150, 250, 300.....

Imagine that your Great Great Grand Kid was banging your daughter. The family trees would get ridiculous and eventually all llok like Corky.

There would have to be strict rules on population control and then there would be all types of problems with an increasing lower sub class because the wealthy would stay wealthy for too long. People have opportunities now, because people age and move on, distribute their wealth, rinse and repeat. Imaginge now if CEO's could be in charge for hundreds of years. Every company would just basically employ their own family over the course of time. All the while this massive lower class who isn't given opprtunity either continues to grow or is stifled through authoritarian means.

This whole thing is just a bad, bad idea.
                            Chalepa Ta Kala.....

That's really not any different than what goes on now.

Oh yes it is. The wealthy have to pay heavy death taxes, people are in prime positions a relatively short amount of time. There is trunover. The have nots have opportunities because of this turnover. People start living a 1000 years, every thing that restricts opportunity will just be increased 10 fold.
