Re: Who likes Tool?
I was huge into TOOL in high school. My tastes have expanded a lot since then, but I'll still rock out to some "Hooker with a Penis" or flip on "Third Eye" now and then. My favorite thing ever for the longest time was the live version of "Pus hit" (heh, damn forum censors) from the boxed set "Salival" that they released before Lateralus. I was actually at that show (Red Rocks on the 2nd Aenima tour), so that song still holds a special spot for me. I'm definitely an Aenima fan more than anything else -- tons of great songs on that album.
I enjoy their newer stuff as well, but I guess I'm not obsessed like I used to be, so I'm not enjoying things nearly on the level that I was during the Aenima days. I like all the trippy spiritual dirge songs unlike most old-school TOOL fans. I guess it just doesn't affect me like it used to. I'll still listen to Opiate or Undertow if they come on -- they sounded like a completely different band back then. I'll always respect TOOL and enjoy their music. Danny Carey is still my favorite drummer and Maynard is right there with Mike Patton and Nick from DeVotchKa as my favorite male vocalist.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Who likes Tool?
Dude listen to Stinkfist or Jambi, lol i suppose you could recommend pretty much every one of their songs. Lots of tool fans like their older stuff more, I personally think lateralus is a far greater album then opiate or undertow i love how complex and layered it is. I also use to think 10,000 days wasnt even close to their other albums but but yea...The whole album rocks as far as im concerned Jambi is amazing, same wiith right in two, and lost keys is such an amazing intro, Rosetta is a very unique song.Handshakes at sunriseComment

Listen to Parabol/Parabola....Great intro and song. The guitars in this song are some of my favorite from Adam.
Forty-Six and 2 is another classic I highly recommend.Comment

I haven't heard anything but I'd expect a new album sometime around 2011 or 2012. If we get lucky maybe 2010.Comment

Re: Who likes Tool?
Someone may correct me if I'm wrong, but when I bought the album lateralus when it first came out, there was a "typo" on the word lateralus on the back of the album that I had. Maybe it will be worth something some day...I hope so.Comment

Re: Who likes Tool?
Another Amazing fact is you can ALWAYS tell a Tool song from the rest, even with as different as they get. You hear it and it just sounds like Tool. Does that make any sense to anyone but me?Comment

Re: Who likes Tool?
Going by Tool's history of releasing CDs on a five-year cycle, I'd assume the next one won't see daylight until 2011. I wish they'd work a little faster...but I guess it takes time to make perfectionCo-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Re: Who likes Tool?
I like Tool, probably not as much as I used to though. I think Aenima is easily one of the 10 best albums of the 90's, and overall, is one of rock's best. I feel it's easily their best as it's long, diverse, and engaging both lyrically and musically. Undertow is a dirtier sounding album that posesses an inherent rawness. And Opiate was a good introduction for the band. Lateralus is more mellow compared to the previous releases but ultimately less diverse. It had a formula for a lot of the songs which dissapointed me a little, given that this was the follow-up to Aenima. There are some good songs on it (such as the title track and The Patient) but a lot more filler tracks. 10,000 Days was a dissapointment for me as it's almost 1:1 with songs and filler and just wasn't what I would have expected from the band given the lengthy hiatus between albums. Vicarious is one of the few Tool songs that sounds like a typical Tool song. Rosetta Stoned and The Pot are the only two really interesting songs on the album, with Jambi and Wings of Marie/10,000 Days being merely average Tool songs. Maybe my expectations have been far too high for this band following Aenima but I expect them to do more to push the genre with each album and for the first time I find myself not really anticipating the next Tool release.Comment

Re: Who likes Tool?
How is he just a casual fan when he's talking about Opiate? I pretty much agree with him, except for the "not really anticipating their next release" part, and Tool is probably my favorite band.Comment
