    Valkyrie: Summer 2008

This is a movie I'm pretty excited about.

Bryan Singer directs, Tom Cruise (as much as I'm really not a big fan of him), Eddie Izzard, Kenneth Branagh star.

The story of the secret underground movement by High Ranking Nazi Officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler and end the Nazi Regime over Germany.

I don't see how this can't be a stellar movie with Singer at the helm and the cast he has assembled.

Being a Military History junkie..this is fascinating to me.

Isn't this Singer's 2nd Nazi movie? He did Apt Pupil too right?

Yup. Of course...a bit different as far as mood and storyline go.

      I dug Apt Pupil myself.

I'm a sucker for any WWII movie. Too few Saving Private Ryans being made.

Oh yeah, I agree. I loved Apt Pupil, just commenting on how he's touching a similar overall topic again. He must have an interest.

        Looks very good.

I keep waiting for them to do a movie about the USS Indianapolis..the ship that delivered the Atom bomb then was sunk by a Japanese Sub, but...because its mission was top secret..didn't send out a distress signal when it went down and had it's crew marooned in the middle of the ocean for something like 5 or 6 days. Over half of the crew died as they either drowned, died of heat stroke, or were eaten by Sharks.

On a completely side note....I'm still pissed that Ted Turner decided NOT to complete his Civil War Trilogy and do a movie on the final days of the Confederacy leading up to Lee's surrender at Appomatox Court House. I'm a huge fan of Gettysburg and Gods and Generals and am dying for a movie on the final days of the South.

Oh..to be filthy stinking rich and be my own movie producer!

I thought this movie had a lot of potential when I heard about it.

            Then they cast Tom Cruise.

Then they had Tom Cruise wear an eyepatch.

The real character that Cruise plays was injured in the war and did wear an eyepatch.

Actually, Cruise looks a lot like the real General.

I saw this preview awhile ago so I suppose I could be forgetting something but when I saw it and realized that Tom Cruise wasnt even talking with any type of accent I lost all interest in the movie. It just sounds strange considering the part he is playing.

Somewhat OT, but the only thing I know so far about the movie happened to occur during pre-production.

Yeah I was totally confused by that... is he supposed to be a spy or something? Everyone else in the trailer spoke with an accent... besides Cruise.

I cant Tom Cruise seriously any more and he's not good enough an actor to make me forget what a ****** he really is. Which suck because I'd normally be all over a movie qwith this subject matter.

I can't see Tom Cruise and good actor together.

He struck it big with Paramount and that's it. He was put into blockbuster roles because of his ability to sell movies and that made him a star. His acting ability had almost nothing to do with it.

I don't think it's a surprise that no one has ever mentioned him being a Best Actor winner or nominee (I know he's been nominated. At least I believe he has). There aren't even rumblings or suspicions...ever.

And his face is just too normal for me. I don't know how to put it but he's never believable in any role. I always see the same guy, with the same expressions, pull off the same stunts and lines.

He's the white Denzel Washington. Only difference is while Denzel plays every role the same, he's great at it.
