    Re: ***Zune 2 4/8/30/80gb Discussion***

Can anyone please help me with actually putting music into my Zune. I have the original 30g and i can put music into it but i just cant stand how it goes into it. It seems like it just does whatever it wants and i cant change any info like artist name or album or anything. I go to my collection in the zune software on my computer and i will have songs there that have supposedly already been synced but i cant find them anywhere in my zune. It is just really annoying. I tried to edit all the songs in my collection that were under unknown artists and when i did it just changed it back to unkown by itself.

Also i was wondering if you edit something in your collection on your computer does that actually translate over to the zune itself? Cause i have yet to see it and it makes me wonder whats the point of trying to edit if its just gonna change it back or not change it in the zune. Any help would be appreciated.

For some reason my PC is no longer recognizing my Zune. When I plug it in the zune software doesn't autolaunch. When I open the zune software, it tells me to connect a zune even though it still is. The zune doesn't charge either. Even my XBox doesn't recognize it.

My Zune is being a woman right now and it's getting on my damn nerves. When I plug it in it doesn't respond and when it finally decides to, it only goes about halfway. For some reason the other day it just stops playing music while I was working out. It's like it paused itself or something. Then it started periodically freezing and I was unable to change songs or anything. It eventually led to my Zune saying that it was unable to read ANY or my files and I had to reformat it. Ugh. So now it decides it's not going to sync right. After reformatting it and trying to sync it only goes to somewhere between 50-65% synced and then it stops and I get a "Not Responding" error which forces me to have to reset my Zune. WTF.

WMP (and thus Zune software) reads albums through both the Album tag and Album Artist tag. By default, tags make the Album Artist tag the same as the Artist tag, thus when you have different artists, you have different album artists, and when you have different Album Artists, you'll have multiple albums. The fix is to make sure every track on the album has the same album artist.

Using Mood Muzik 3 as an example, you could still have "Joe Budden ft. emanny" in the artist tag, but make sure the Album Artist tag is "Joe Budden". Best way IMO to do this is through tagging software, I use MediaMonkey.

Just wanted to comment on that since just using a different program is a real general way of doing things, like you don't understand how the problem was fixed but just see that it works fine.
Most people don't want to be freeware/shareware appz operators when they purchase an item, especially from such a larger and reputable (in their eyes) company as M$. They expect that these sort of bugs and problems are worked out a head of time and can just plug and play (around) with it.

All of these issues were fixed with the newest version of the software.

Ya, but still the typical "let's put it out there before it's ready and see what happens" M$ mentality. How long has the Zune been out before that software upgrade happened.

              Don't answer that.

4 1/2 months. I guess I have a different perspective than most people. When I bought my 80, I assumed that since the product was only a year old it would take a while before the software was as good as Itunes and the firmware was as good as the Ipod's. Almost every issue that the Zune had before this recent update had workarouds so I was willing to wait until they added those features. I'm glad I waited because my 80 is better than any other mp3 player except for the Touch imo.

It's not a Microsoft convention nor is it a bug. You came off in this post as being persistent about complaining.

Is there any known work around for songs not being synced properly with playlists? It seems totally random, perhaps restarted the software does the trick but I haven't tried that.-

If I make a playlist that includes a new album not included on the device yet and try syncing it, the album always gets to the device but sometimes it doesn't get put in the playlist.
