Re: No Country for Old Men
SpoilerI haven't read the book, but I believe that when Tommy Lee enters the room, Anton is supposed to be a figment of his imagination. Tommy Lee believes he will die by going into the room. After that scene he retires.
From my understanding, in the book, as Tommy Lee enters the room Anton is actually getting into the car with the money. The book doesn't clarify if Anton waits outside the room or leaves, but Tommy Lee believes that he will be killed once he leaves the room.
Spoiler
In the book, Anton is in fact waiting in his car when Ed Tom enters the motel. Ed Tom walks out of the motel after noticing the screws taking out of the vent - where the money was - and as he is walking he can sense that he is about to get killed...As if Death is watching him.
It only further entrenches my belief that Anton is more than just a man...He is the mortal version of Death.
I loved the book though, very similar to the novel with some extra details - namely Ed Tom's duty in WWII that make the ending easier to understand and more emotional at the same time.
Required reading IMHO - but then again I think everything Cormac writes should be required reading.Comment

Watched this today, really loved it. Kinda feel like I might of missed some of it though, like the point of the movie, haha. Probably gonna rent it one more time.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. The point was that Chigurh is badass and that you should just give him the money.

Re: No Country for Old Men
I finally got a chance to check out my Blu-ray and I really loved the movie. I thought the ending was fine and had no problem with it. Bardem was simply masterful in his role as Anton Chigurh. He was a badass plain and simple. But nonetheless he totally creeped me out not just by his look but also by his lack of emotion. The PQ of the movie is just awesome. It looked and sounded great. I really can't wait to see it again.

Re: No Country for Old Men
good movie but to think it would have been avoidable ifSpoilerBrolin didn't go back to give the guy some water made me wonder how a reasonably good storyline could have hinged so much on that one part.I guess his conscious was too much for him.Comment

Re: No Country for Old Men
Chigurh still would've found him. For one thing the transponder was still in the briefcase and well... Chigurh was just a bad *** and would've found him somehow.Comment

Re: No Country for Old Men
Beyond that, it would have been a bitch of a time for Chigurh to simply drive around trying to locate the signal. Didn't the 2 mobsters, that picked him up, say that they already tried to locate it through the transponder with no luck?Comment
