Re: No Country for Old Men

I watched this movie a couple of weeks ago when it came out on DVD and I was pretty much blown away by it. I'm pretty certain it's the best movie I've seen in the past year and maybe even the past couple of years.

I have a take on it that I haven't seen anywhere else yet. I could be way off base here but interprebility is what is appealing about movies like this one.

    Spoiler

That's just one man's take but in my opinion it was a great, great movie.

After reading that, the film made more sense to me. I generally do not enjoy movies that symbolize instead of visualize (I am there to be entertained for the most part). That being said, this is a great flick. Thanks for the, correct IMO, insight.

            Good point.

I think the fact that most people get hung up on thinking that Llewelyn is the focus of the movie are the ones that don't like much. If you go into the movie thinking that Ed Tom is the key character than you'll enjoy this movie much more than you would otherwise.

Good points, but Moss AND Antwon were the main characters of the film.

I don't think Moss or Anton were supposed to be the main characters in the film. Although they played significant roles in the film, they both were just supporting the main story which was Ed Tom.

And yes, it was the best film of the year. It wasn't even close.

I can see where maybe you don't think it's the best of the year, but to say "please..." as if were crazy for thinking it, well its pretty contradictory.

I just watched this movie and I gotta say it's THE best movie I have purchased thus far on Blu-Ray. Superb movie. Glad I picked it up.

I thought the main characters were Chigurh and Ed Tom; especially Ed Tom who felt more like an omnipresent character/force than a character that needed a lot of screen time. Moss was more a plot-tool than a main character and I felt like the main characters (Ed Tom and Chigurh) had more of a control over their lives than the other characters of the film.

To me, the movie should be analyzed like a book would be. Just because a character doesn't recieve a lot of screen time doesn't mean the movie wasn't about him and/or he wasn't a main character.

Finally watched this! Had to dig deep to find the thread.

I echo the rest who thought this movie was fantastic. I was into it from the first minute to the last.
