I'll be there day one. There are certain franchises that get me to the movies day one of a showing, and most of the time at a midnight showing. The Lord of the Rings franchise is one that does it for me.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Hobbit - Peter Jackson produced prequel to Lord of the Rings
Is this real? And is it because the film was shot with Cameron's new 60 FPS cameras?
edit: Correction. The Hobbit was shot in 48fps. Guess there's still a debate on 48 or 60fps being the future that Cameron wants.Last edited by CMH; 12-11-2012, 06:09 PM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I didn't watch it in 48 fps, though I want to rewatch it in that frame rate.
I enjoyed the film even if it's long. I'll comment more when I rewatch it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: The Hobbit - Peter Jackson produced prequel to Lord of the Rings
I just saw it in 3D 48fps. Picture Quality wise, this may be the BEST movie I've seen yet. Very clean, vibrant, ALIVE. Once it's in motion though, it was totally jarring -- like you're watching one of those demo movies they use in TV showrooms. It's like watching at 1.5x the normal playing speed and it just doesn't feel like a movie.
I think 48fps is well suited for documentaries but for feature films, I'm not yet sure.
As for the movie itself, other than the first 20-30 minutes of The Shire, it's quite good. Though I do feel like the Orcs aren't as fearsome because they're now CGI.Comment
