It's like watching at 1.5x the normal playing speed and it just doesn't feel like a movie.

I think 48fps is well suited for documentaries but for feature films, I'm not yet sure.

As for the movie itself, other than the first 20-30 minutes of The Shire, it's quite good. Though I do feel like the Orcs aren't as fearsome because they're now CGI.
Well it looks like I will have to definitely not see this in 48fps. I had to switch my TV to being in game mode 100% of the time, because the way the faster FPS looks absolutely disgusts me. It feels like a cheap soap opera to me at best.

Glad to hear the movie was good though.

I didn't noticed any of the jarring motion effects, FWIW. Everything was clear as day from start to finish.

I am hoping to go see this within the next few days. I loved the LOTR trilogy so I can`t wait to see this. Is it worth paying the extra money to see it in 3D or just stick with the standard version?

            I'd say yes, definitely.

I saw it opening day in HFR 3D and loved it! I'm a huge Tolkien nut, and while it was slow at points (and I sincerely hope that the three parts prevent the double dipping "extended editions" of LOTR), it was still fantastic. I do wish there were more costumed orcs versus all CGI, but with the new framerate I expect it just wasn't possible.

The haunting dwarf chant that evolved into the main theme was simply awesome!

Should have gone with either two marathon length films, or three shorter films, it's well on its way to accumulating an incredible level of unnecessary bloat. I think Jackson is pulling a Lucas, he's fallen too in love with his way of doing things.

Just saw this today, I thought it was great. As someone who hasn't read the novel, and had no expectation of the story content, I thought the film flew by time wise. I am looking forward to the next two films big time.

Saw this on Christmas Eve in HFR 3D and thought it was amazing. Once I got past the first 30 minutes of the movie I thought that the pacing was very well done. Honestly, there wasn't a dull moment once they started their adventure, IMO. I can't wait for the next one.

I saw it over the Christmas weekend in 3D. I don't think the 3d is necessary at all for this movie, but it was at the time slot we wanted to see it. There was only a couple parts where the 3D really showed through. Towards the end, there was 1 special 3D effect that felt like there was a sparkler right next to your eye, but other than that, go see in 2D and save the $.

If you like the book or the Lord of the Rings books, I don't see how you would think the movie moved slow. I thought the pace was fine. I can see how there will be 5 more hours of movie footage. Wasn't sure how they were going to stretch this into 3 movies, but if the last battle scene is epic, I can easily see 5 more hours left.

Just watched it again, this time in 3d with the high frame rate. I don't know why so many people were complaining. I thought the high frame rate was fantastic. Just looked so incredibly smooth. I hope it catches on.

Just watched this movie a couple days ago and loved it. To people saying it was slow it reminded me of the fellowship.

We are going to see the second one on the 21st for my brothers birthday. Anyone seen it yet, surprised there isn't a thread about it.

I saw it and loved it. I'm a big fan of the series, and Peter Jackson definitely hasn't lost his touch. I just think people who aren't big fans of the series are probably a bit worn at this point.
