I can't believe people would actually buy this. Overpriced is an understatement. This is coming from a guy that loves the iPhone and his iPod.

Yeah I don't really see the point in buying it when the main selling point is how thin it is. Of course I'm underestimating the hysteria that occurs with any new Apple product. The next version will probably have a cd player and/or disk drive, then they'll add a dvd player and so on.

Why play a dvd that you own when you can pay to rent a movie for 24 hours? It's amazing!! Don't forget how thin it is.

There is a definite market for it. Wasn't compact/sub notebooks all the rage over xmas. I don't remember the name but people on the internet were going nuts over it.

You can never look at the hysterical apple people because they will buy anything. Apple Newton anyone.

I think this notebook is aimed right at travelers. Do work on the plane, airport, hotel with a computer that's really small.

Apple's problem is the MacBook are pretty slim and light with 17-20 inch screens. Now if they create a 20" in MacBook that is as slim as the Air, Apple would really be onto something.

I'm just happy with the iPhone update. I just hope they upgrade the iPhone OS more often.

No need to knock the device. There's a big enough market of professionals who utilize a Mac everyday and need to have it with them, sans an optical drive.

With removable media being the future anyway, it might not be so far-fetched that this device could be well ahead of it's time.

As for the Apple Newton... I hope you're not claiming the device wasn't worth the investment. Anyone in the industry who is familiar with Handhelds will tell you it was ahead of its time.

I doubt it. The MacBook Air is just another G4 Cube...a 20th Anniversary Mac even. Every few years Apple does this with a product and it just fades away. I feel this will be no different. These are not all directly related in terms of features and usability, but the price along with practicality makes them useless to most Apple consumers.

The only people who will shell out the dough for this are those that care about form over function.

I really don't understand why anyone would spend more money on a laptop that has less features than other laptops. And you're not just spending a couple extra hundred dollars, it's almost double the price of a very good laptop but you're getting nothing for it other than the ability to put it in an envelope. I understand that there's a market for a more portable computer but taking out everything and charging double isn't anything revolutionary(which some people have called it, not you) or anything to cheer for.
