This is commercialized rap. No I don't like it, but I'm classifying it where it belongs. If people want to tune into MTV and BET and judge the "hip-hop" genre, then that's total ignorance.

I'm tired of people hearkening "hip-hop is dead" or like the thread title says "wake up hip-hop". Hip-hop's been alive and kicking, people are just too DUMB to listen or find the good stuff. Master P is NOT hip-hop.

I'm just tired of people assuming the mantle of Hip Hop judge and thinking they are the authority on what is hip hop and what isn't. Just because because it's commercial or shown on MTV/BET or performed by people whose rhyme skills clearly aren't as good or refined as others in the game does not mean it's not hip hop.

Honestly this is the response I expected. I am by no means a Master P fan, never have been. But get past the style and listen to the message. Commercialized rap is what is being fed to our youth full of negative imagery. At least he is attempting to right a wrong that he contributed in for a long time, and educate others about history.
