You guys have to remember how becoming a father changes your outlook on life. I think That has been a huge part of P attempting to change his life.

Romeo is what 17 years old give or take?

Master P was still making the same kind of music when he was born and years after. He is just doing this now because he has riches and wants to be in the spot light.

You know what though.. after thinking I am not sure what the issue is with this for me. If Ice Cube wanted to come out and make a most positive sound I don't know if I would have an issue and we all know the music he used to make.

I'll take my statements back. Him trying to be positive is a good idea.

Malcolm X was a drug dealer and user BUT does that make him any less of a man for changing his life and preaching about black awareness?

Co-sign, I guess I just had more issue with the thread title. I can't talk bad about someone putting something positive in his/her art. I have to give P a bit of credit here.

Master P taught me how to cook up the crack rock.

You don't take that back. Now, if he gave a hundred million dollars to a scholarship fund or something, I would then believe him.

Re: New Master P song actually has a message!! Wake up Hip Hop!!

Mehh, I don't really care about Master P dealing drugs or becoming a preacher or whatever. He's always been about the money. He did what he had to to get it and did a pretty damn good job of it too. I liked a lot of his tracks but don't know I personally would consider any of them "hip hop" but don't see what's so wrong with me or anyone else saying that. I go in museums and raise an eyebrow thinking, "that's not art" so why can't I think the same about music?

BTW, I wouldn't worry too much about what this generation is being fed based on what's on the radio and TV. This is the internet generation. The only people paying that much attention to what's on the radio or MTV/BET are us same old folk that grew up with only those outlets. Kids these days don't even go to the store to buy their music anymore. The "real" hip hop is in the right spot for today's generation.

LOL! I dont know how you can even compare X and Master P. This is another money grab by Master P and nothing else. He realizes that he is 40 and cant do the gangsta rap thing anymore and is now trying to flip it. Hammer did the same thing. He didnt start this "positive rap thing" thing until this whole anti hip hop movement by Sharpton and Jackson started.

Can't people get older and more mature? Do they always have an alterior motive? Dude is 40, so he may have grown out of the gangster route thing. If he sees an audience for positive rap music, than that's good for him. You don't know his motives either way.

No where in my statement did I say, "Master P is like Malcolm X in...". I evaluted their seperate situations in which they had full of negativity in their earlier years and turned around and did something positive. Of course, Malcolm had much more impact and influence on black folks. Never did I even imply:
                          - Master P > Malcolm X
                          - Master P < Malcolm X
                          - Master P = Malcolm X
                          ...because that's irrelavent.

About the song.....this is actually the first Master P song I liked since about 1999. It has a nice bounce to it.

Yes but thats not the case here. In 2006, he came out with a gangsta rap album that sold nothing. He was off the radar and nobody cared about him. In 2007, he decided to speak out in support of not using the n word and got press for it. So he decided to run with it. This is a money grab nothing else.

The guy is 40 yrs old. Does it really take you 20 yrs to realize that rapping about drug dealing and violence is wrong? Is it just a coincedence that his change to positive rap happened at the same time his sales were in the toilet?

Is it me or was Master P never really a "gangsta rapper"? I think that's what I missing in this discussion between everybody. He's been doing stupid comedy movies since he was at the peak of his game. Wasn't he on Dancing with the Stars and even playing bball? His entire career has just been about getting his 15 minutes and trying to make it last for 16. I just see him as always being about trying to make a buck. Even his hits back in the day weren't pushing the life like Wu or Mobb Deep. Maybe I didn't listen to enough Master P.
