Yeah, I don't know how I feel about it either. That completely threw me off.

Though, I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that ABC allowed the show to wrap up at least. A strange ending is better than none at all.

Yeah, at least ABC's worthless execs are giving us closure unlike they did with Day Break and Invasion. I still can't believe they canceled Day Break a few episodes short off the finale...that pisses me off to this day.

I wasn't very impressed with the ending tonight. However, the show was great and the concept was very creative. I wish we could see more quirky creativity like this on tv. Instead we're stuck with shows like Dancing with the Stars and Grey's Anatomy dominating in ratings. SIGH.

The more I think about it, the more I'm pissed about the ending. I feel like I wasted the last 16 epsiodes watching this show.

It seems like nothing survives the 9CT/10ET time slot on ABC. Each show that I have given a chance to on Wednesday nights during this time slot ends up getting canned. Hopefully I can catch this show in the fall when it releases on DVD since I want to finish watching it.

Well, it started in the Thursday night time slot but moved to Wednesday in January. I thought it would fit better behind Lost as opposed to following Grey's Anatomy, but that didn't help. ABC also did a poorer and poorer job of promoting it as the season went along. Whatever happened to letting a show build a following? I remember seeing a good bit of promotion in the laste summer/early fall (even saw a couple commercial spots for it on ESPN), but then they pretty much stopped promoting it after the season started. Of course, none of the promotions ever said much of anything about what the show was about, either.

I just watched the series ender and I thought it was a brilliant ending! Very creative and not a scenario I would have guessed. That my friends is how you close out a show!!

I agree with you ODogg. I watched it with my girlfriend who had a sour taste in her mouth about the ending, but I loved it. I loved how it played into the title of the show.

I mean the fact that they were literally looking for Life ON Mars. And in all reality that's how they send people into space, just put them to sleep and it's not out of this world to think that in the future the astronauts can't decide what they'd like to dream about. It also played into the fact that they called him space man all the time and the space shuttle with little Sammy. I thought it was a very creative and unique look at the end of the series. It provided no loose ends, which would have been hard to do in one episode with a different ending.

So overall I'm very happy with how it ended!!

Thirded. At first I was disappointing a bit, but then when it kind of sunk in I liked it more and more.

Now it just sucks knowing it's off the air. Great actors/characters, plot, music...ugh.

However, I am still irritated by the fact that none of what happened during the show was real. It was all in his head. His mom and dad weren't real characters. None of the people he met in the previous episodes existed. You either send him back to 2009 or leave him in 1973, but you don't make the whole thing meaningless.

I expect the series ender to not completely ruin the series. Honestly, I'm almost glad the series didn't last longer, because if this was the ending after 4 or 5 seasons of Sam dreaming about being in 2008 and then time traveling to 1973, I'd be even more pissed.

It completely took away the impact of Sam solving his personal demons and the relationships he built up with the characters in 1973. The ending was cold and void of emotion for a very emotional series. Didn't like the ending, but still loved Life on Mars. I'm sad to see it go.

I'm mixed about the ending.

In one instance it plays into the whole theme and all these subtle hints. That it goes with that mold.

Then when you think about all that happened, it sucks. Everything with The Guys and Annie. They should have just let it be...

It would have been nice if it left him in 1973.


My real guess is that IF this series would have gotten to run longer that it would have had a different finale than it did.

Another GOOD show that got canned. I'm really HATING network TV now. Why couldn't they have moved a show like this too a cable station instead?

I'm about to give up on Network TV since anything that's half way different from the rest of the cop and medical dramas gets run off the air due too "under performing ratings."

pfunk, I do see exactly what you're saying. It's almost as though we've dedicated one hour of our time every week for 16 weeks and they find a way to make it seem as though all of that time was worth nothing.

I also think that if the series ran longer they'd have thought of a different ending to keep everyone happy, but that may not be true either! We'll never know!
