It completely took away the impact of Sam solving his personal demons and the relationships he built up with the characters in 1973. The ending was cold and void of emotion for a very emotional series. Didn't like the ending, but still loved Life on Mars. I'm sad to see it go.
I agree. That's why I didn't really like the ending. This series was a great one though.

This sucked and you could tell it was rushed to just put some kind of closure on it. I went and read about the British version because I couldn't believe it would have ended the same way. It ended a lot better and I would have been happy with that ending.

Please explain why in the heck you think that's a better ending? Personally I think this version was much more superior.

Because it wasn't a stupid dream, there was closure. Nothing existed, not 2008, not 1973, nothing. I didn't watch the UK version, but at least he made a choice, not just woke up and that was it.

So an ending in which he kills himself is better than one in which he is an astronaut who is with the hot babe Annie? Say wha???

Or you could look at it as British Sam commits suicide and enters his Nirvana (or Heaven), which is a much better place than present day Earth, and he's finally happy.

American Sam wakes up and he's a f'n astronaut, says, "Wow, that was a weird dream" and goes about his day forgetting the entire thing in a couple hours and making the entire season meaningless.

To me the British version's ending is 100x better.
