Hopefully it isn't CG heavy like the movies were. I'm fine with CG or digital backgrounds when done right, but the movies were just off putting. They tend to do it a lot in mecha shows now, with the mechs being CG.

Hand or 2D animated scenes like this are still a thing of beauty.

Looking forward to the Spring season, haven't watched anime in a couple months.

Berserk has an anime? I always wanted to get into this series but I couldn't since I can't find the anime. All I see are movies, and I'm not sure which to watch. I might just read the manga instead.

Started reading a webtoon/manhwa called Dice. It really underrated. It about being able to change yourself to the person you dreamed of becoming. It also shows true human nature and what the character desire. I would recommend it to those who like dark manga.

You should watch the movies. They tell the same story as the '97 series but in condensed form and are much better animated. Said story is basically an origin tale. The order is:
        • The Egg of the King
        • The Battle for Doldrey
        • The Descent (The Advent)

        I really do recommend them.

@LambertandHam, they will be animating the new series using CGI so we'll see how well it's done. I didn't have as much of an issue with it in the movies as others. It got better each movie, imo.

Hmm. I'm willing to give it a few episodes to see what it's like. The only other Berserk series is the old 90's one, but it only goes up an early part of the manga.

First episode of My Hero Academia was excellent. Considering how good the manga is, I think this will be a huge hit.

The time has finally come that one of my favorite manga got an anime. The first episode of Boku No Hero Academia was amazing, and I could ask for anything more. The feels for to me this episode. One of the best first episodes I seen in a while. If they stay true to the manga then I see this being one of the top series this season. Can't wait to see the later episodes.

Now I gotta catch back up with the manga, and some of the animes I didn't watch last season.

                  Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread

Been watching some of the new shows from the spring lineup this week, several of them just today. Here are the ones I've watched and am most excited(or not) about, in order:

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: Hype justified. Beautiful art, story seems to be kind of Attack on Titan meets Walking Dead. Interesting characters, a bit gory, good action. Not expecting a deep story or anything but man I will be waiting for this every week no question.

Joker Game: Takes place just before WWII and is about a group of spies and their missions. Lots of intrigue and suspense. Serious tone. Definitely one to keep up with.

ReZero: Starting Life in Another World: First impression is Gate meets Groundhog Day or Edge of Tomorrow. It's about a shut in who gets transported to a fantasy world for whatever reason. It goes back and forth from being lighthearted to dark. Didn't know about this until late but the first two episodes have me very curious to see where it goes.

Kiznaiver: Much hyped project from Studio Trigger. Obviously the animation is great, and the premise is interesting I suppose. At this point, I'm mainly just a passenger sitting in the back of this hype train but I slept on Kill la Kill for a long time so I'm not getting off anytime soon.

The Lost Village: First thing I thought about while watching was The Beach. Story is about 30 people heading to an uncharted island to start new lives in this utopia. Looks like it will be either be a murder mystery or horror show, maybe both. Animation is solid and I like a good mystery.

Bungo Stray Dogs: Nothing I can compare this too off top. Kinda offbeat. Beautiful animation. About an orphan who finds his way into a detective agency full of meta humans who solve crimes the police and military can't or won't.

Twin Star Exorcists: Pretty standard fare shounen. Doesn't look like it will be anything special but you never know.

Hundred: Just another Harem anime, removed from my queue halfway through the first episode.

                  Continuing God Eater as well.

You guys catch anything you might want to recommend?

Watched the first episode of My Hero Academia and of The Joker Game. Both seem like ones I will keep up with so far.

Haven't checked anything else new out yet this spring.

Remember watching this in high school when Starz would have an anime hour involving this and episodes of Street Fighter II V.

Because of school, I've been reading a bunch of manga these last couple of months. I barely had anytime to watch anime and couldn't even catch up with last season anime. Friends been teasing me about Erased and other series I missed out on. Looked at my computer and seen I have a ton of anime bookmarked. Got a long summer ahead of me.

Starting to prefer manga over anime, only problem is it feels like eternity waiting on a new chapter.
