It reminds me of 9/11. The government may not have been involved (who knows at this point; wouldn't surprise me if they were), but I bet they [Bush and co.] felt like they just won the lottery when they learned they could further increase their power by using the fear of terrorism.
Woah dude, not the place for this banter.

I think they can easily hit it, but they have to hit the fuel tank so they burn up the toxic stuff, if they don't, it might not all burn up. So it is harder than just hitting it.

i heard another conspiracy theory while listening to the Tony Kornheiser Radio show.

            it goes....

Since nobody ever seen the satellite the US will shoot a missile and just say it hit so that we can have confidence in the missile program or star wars program from the Reagan era.

            end conspiracy theory

I dont think they will hit the Satellite myself

that's actually dumber than the 9/11 conspiracy mentioned a few posts up.

The satellite was actually recently photographed by a japanese observatory, and you can also spot it with the naked eye if you know where it is in the sky. you can also track it, and find out what times it is best visable for your area here.

Satellite predictions and other astronomical data customised for your location.

              But why consider facts.

I'm going to try and shoot it out of the sky myself.

Considering each missile costs $10 million (we may use up to 3) and, well, bkfound pointed out the rest.

Its pretty random that we are able to see it considering it is only the size of a large bus.

                      No it isn't.

Go outside on a clear night and just stare into the sky. You'd be surprised at how many satellites you can see with the naked eye. That's not even considering the fact that this one is actually starting to enter our atmosphere.

So who gets the honor of firing the missile? That is gonna be a cool story to tell.

Yeah that satellite everyone was talking about? I was the one who blew it up.

So if i shot a blinking bus straight up, 80 miles into space from my own backyard, a good portion of the world would be able to see it if they look at the right position in the sky? Random stuff.

That's been the problem in the past with missile defense systems, getting the aim and timing exactly perfect ALL the time.
It's strictly a kinetic weapon. It doesn't have a warhead. Two objects impacting each other travelling at that rate of speed will result in smashing each other into thousands of pieces.

It doesn't even have to be blinking. You'd be able to see it from the light it's reflecting.
