There were so many elements. Cat and mouse, every one was the hunter and the hunted. Fate and the fact that you don't have much control was an overtone. Justice and injustice.

To me the main idea was the idea of evolving evil. And Tommy Lee Jones was just too old to be the law anymore. He talked about how before Sheriff's didn't need to be armed. Throughout the movie you could see it in his words and his face that the evil was simply too much for him, and it was overwhelming. His inability to stop Sugar [Sp?] is the last straw and leads him into retirement. I'm sure there's more stuff in the official thread, I'll find it.

No Country is one of my favorite movies in a very long time, I thought it was phenomenal...but of course I'm a big Cormac fan.

Good to see Daniel Day Lewis win. I was reading his Wikipedia page...That guy is INTENSE. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Day_Lewis.

I can't believe Sicko didn't win best documentary but those other ones sound interesting.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

LOL, another "No Country For old Men *****".Your analysis was extremely insightful. "Stinks On Ice" Now did you really see the film?
Thrilled that this movie took "Best Picture" and that Javier Bardem won for "Best Supporting Actor". This was one of the most engrossing and suspenseful films I have watched in a while. I really invested in the Brolin character, whose courage and cunning would have triumphed in most situations. Other observations.
Ruby Dee really looked out of it. She made a weird face after they showed her "Best Supporting Actress" clip and when Tilda Swinton was announced the winner, her expression was stoic. No dissing her, the lady is no spring chicken.
I thought Jon Stewart was great. His natural laid back style is perfect for the Oscars.
I thought kissing men was out, but Bardem kissed Brolin, and Day-Lewis kissed Clooney.
Cate Blanchett was 0-2 after losing in the "Best Actress" and "Best Supporting Actress" category. I wonder how many times that has happened?
I'm glad "Juno" got some respect with a "Best Original Screenplay" Oscar, and it was nice that the writer referred to Ellen Page as "superhuman". I think she's on the verge of superstardom.

Cool. I starting to put the pieces together and am gaining some understanding. Also:

I like how you wrapped it up in post number 65. I guess I've become to used to the pretty as a present wrapups at the end of films. I was looking for a fastball ball and the Coen bros threw me a changeup and fooled me completely.

The first 90 mins were intense, I just didn't get that closure I so desperately needed. Ya know, like sex without ejaculating.

In the end, I guess its good Hollywood can accept movies without the fairytale endings.

I did see the movie, and the ending just left me cold. That all. I just didn't understand how well a movie can make me feel that rush and just let me down.

I visit West Texas every year(my family is there), and felt that they got the background absolutely correct. Knowing people from that locale really made me feel as though I had something invested in the presentation, although its only a movie. I really felt an emotional attachment to the landscape.

But the ending didn't have that all too common make everything clean before you go, and that caught me by surprise.

Hell yes I come from a film production background and some vfx knowledge and Transformers had some amazing vfx and the sound mixing was superb. Golden had great vfx too so I didn't mind it winning but Transformers should have won something. No way Bourne had better sound mixing and sound editing than Transformers or There will be blood. I also thought editing shold have went to Into the Wild.

I hear you. You weren't alone feeling that way. Half way through the movie I "kind of" sensed the way this flick would go.

As much as I thought the awards went to the deserving parties, Diving Bell got shafted...That movie changes your image of cinema...None the less pretty good show after everything is said and done.

Watching the preview in the theater, I was almost moved to tears. I never watched it because after reading the synopsis, I feared the film would be too heavy for me. But I think I'll man up and watch it in the near future.
