Re: A Night Of Jail And Injustice
I blame cities more than cops though. They're just doing their job. When a ticket is stacked so even if I get it thrown out, I still have to pay $200 in court fees, it's just the system.
when I got my speeding ticket, I immediately was getting spam mail from lawyers wanting to represent me. So not only do the cops reel in money for the city, my information gets sold to law firms that are down the street from the courthouse for extra money.Comment

Re: A Night Of Jail And Injustice
This is kind of a funny, unrelated to the OP story:
Freshman year of college we were at this party drinking and me and some buddies go outside to get some fresh air. These two other guys are standing with keg cups drinking beer and whatnot when these two cops walk up out of nowhere. The guys drop their cups and book it as fast as they can to not get caught. The cops don't do anything, shake their heads at us, and say "freshman..." and just keep walking. It was pretty hilarious.Comment

It's never going to be perfect though. There are obviously many folks in law enforcement that are in it for the right reason. It just seems they are becoming more rare

Re: A Night Of Jail And Injustice
OS showing no respect for the law...what a ****ing surprise.
Btw, if you've got a light out or any malfunction with your car, cops are well within their right to pull you over. If their system says you haven't paid... guess what, a warrant allows them to take you in...
So what exactly are you complaining about? A clerical error. Probably should think about what you're upset about before you go off on a tangent again.
Unless you have a vendetta against law enforcement as it seems most all on OS have. Of course its unfounded, but don't tell anyone on this site that.
OS motto: **** authority, we're the victims of everything... it's never our fault.Comment

Re: A Night Of Jail And Injustice
Not sure who you're accusing of "going off on a tangent". My complaint is obvious-if I have a malfunctioning taillight, I deserve to be stopped and issued a ticket for that offense. I DON'T deserve to be hauled off to jail, treated like a criminal, forfeit my pay or leave, and be inconvenienced further by another stop at the courthouse on Monday. Do you now understand what I'm complaining about?
You don't deserve to be hauled off to jail.
Forfeit your pay and/or leave.
Be inconvenienced further by another stop at the courthouse.
Those are all errors by the court system or your city/county's record keeping, not the police.
Being treated like a criminal.
Well, in the police's eyes, you were a criminal.
It sounds like you're upset with the wrong group of people.Comment

I'm not going to say I agree with how Lintyfresh presented his argument, but he's right in his overall point.

While on my way to work Thursday Night, I was stopped by the police for a broken taillight. They did a check and found that I had two warrants out on me for unpaid speeding tickets dating back to 2002 (which I PAID!!). They cuffed me,fingerprinted me, herded me around like cattle through the various stations which included several hours wait in a "pit of nastiness" with some rather unsavory characters. I got there at 11:15 PM and was finally released at 4:30 in the morning. All the cops treated me like dog sh!t, and on top of that I have to appear in court Monday morning because the system still has me not paying those tickets. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Seems to me like this guy (ME) is pissed at just about everybody (System and COPS). And I don't believe that cooperative incarcerated people should be treated like dogsh!t just because some Fuzz get their rocks off on being A$$HOLES!! Spend a night in jail under my conditions and see how much love you give everybody!!Comment

Re: A Night Of Jail And Injustice
It's not perfect and it may not be fair, but it's human nature for you to react the way you did and for the police to behave the way they did.
It's refreshing to hear that everything worked for you in the end.Comment

Spend years fighting a never-ending battle against the scum of the earth (murderers, rapists, child molestors) and see how much patience you have for people in jail and the system.

Nope, I'm a Marine, but I've just seen it from both sides and understand the arguments for each. I made some idiotic decisions in my youth and have grown to be a bit more understanding as I've gotten older.
The police are abrasive and can be pricks because they are products of their environment. I'll tell you what, I don't think I'd ever want to deal with what they have to on a daily basis. It's a thankless job.
Unfortunately, there are times like yours when someone completely innocent gets caught up in the system. It sucks, but the best you can hope for is that everything works out in the end. Just think of the innocent people that were locked up for 10, 20, even 30 years.Comment
