Make sure you turn off the user account system(I think that's what it's called) or you'll be getting notifications for every little thing you try to do.

Oh god yes, THANK YOU for telling me about how to fix that back in March. That is just annoying as hell. It also doesn't let you save your files anywhere you want but forces you to put the files in your MY PICs or MY VIDs folders which is lame.

I just wish I could turn off the notification when you boot up Vista that says to turn the User Account System back on (something requires your attention).

Here are several different ways to disable it in this URL - click here. I believe the one posted earlier by jmood that I followed was the registry edit (option 2).

Oh and here is a way I just found to get rid of that annoying NAG message that your user account control is disabled. Click here

Hey all, the new laptop arrived here today and it's awesome, very fast!! I haven't tried any games on it yet, still setting everything up but so far so good!

Soooo come now. Some (me) want to hear how it's playing games so I can gauge how much higher or lower to go in terms of cost.

oh yeah i meant to post, I installed age of empires III and it runs great at max detail at the 1044x900 or whatever that weird HD widescreen resolution is. I'm going to have to download a FPS and test that out (no, not Crysis either as I know it won't run that great, my desktop with a geforce 8800 don't even run that fantastic, LOL).

i'll do that tomorrow at lunch and post sometime tomorrow on how a FPS demo plays. I'll try to get a recent demo of something too to judge.

Psssssstttt DL the Company of Heroes demo off Steam and tell me how that runs since that's a pretty good litmus test.

Ok, I think you can stop worrying about playing games, it ran COD 4 demo just fine, just now completed the entire demo. I played it at 1280x1200 with all options at max except I did turn down shadows to low and the anti-aliasing off. I'm actually surprised at how well it did. Looked great, better than the console versions. Really sucks trying to play with a laptop touchpad though LOL. Would have been ok with a mouse and the keyboard I think.

Hopefully the XPS machines go back on sale soon -- from my understanding they don't go on sale very often, so I may have missed out on one of their good deals.
