Hopefully the XPS machines go back on sale soon -- from my understanding they don't go on sale very often, so I may have missed out on one of their good deals.

I'll bet July 4th is going to be a big sale, just have to hope it's on XPS' and not the damned Inspirons!

Can you throw me a PM with whatever info too? If these sales are rare I'd probably be better off buying one over the weekend of the 4th rather than waiting until early August. I was gonna wait until a wedding I'ver got to go to, but if they're rare it'd be stupid to wait.

Me too. I'm looking at getting a new laptop and the xps seems like a great choice.

I've got a question for anyone who just got an XPS 1530 during the Memorial Day sell at Dell. Did yours come with Lord of the Rings online? I didn't get a CD, nor is it installed on my computer. However it's listed on the invoice as "Turbine Lord of the Rings Online".

I'm talking to Dell right now and getting the run around. It's not so much I want the game per se but if I see it listed on my invoice I believe it is something that they intended to include and they should honor it. It's probably a promotion or something, I dunno.

It came in a DVD-like case and was sealed, along with the trial key. The game wasn't already installed in the laptop so it seemed like an afterthought more than anything else.

I also did some searching and found out that Turbine is the developer of the LoTR online game. (When I first read it, I didn't know what Turbine meant...) Hope it helps.

Yeah, it's $19 from gamestop so probably not worth the hassle. I thought it would contain an offline game as well but reading about it, it doesn't.

Question, does the hard drive speed (5400 rpm vs. 7200 rpm) really affect the speed of use in general? I can understand how writing a ton of stuff would be quicker, but just not sure if the faster HD's worth 200 bucks more, you know?

i've been using my laptop for a couple of weeks now and havne't noticed any difference from it being 7200 or 5400 (i got the 5400rpm one). i'm glad now i didn't spend the extra money.

hey, i should have just said it in here, just sign up on dell.com's web site and they mail those coupons to you for each sale. better sign up soon because i think that they will be putting out independence day coupons this week...

It's right on their website that certain laptops are $500 off for July 4th sale.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and i'm still in awe of how elegant and cool it looks, both the case and the screen. It's bad@ss!
