Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
Wow. Vic gets somewhat of a living hell at the end. I thought someone would have put a bullet in him or he'd finally gets thrown in jail. But what he got in the end was something far worse.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
Best ending you could ever give it. Simply incredible. The Shane scene gave me chills upon chills.
SpoilerWe'll never know, but I am of 100% conclusion that Dutch did kill the Mom to actually frame the kid. Nothing ever came of Dutch killing that cat, and then Claudette saying "I know him better than anyone". Oh really, did you know he kills innocent animals to find out what it feels like??
I love how we see Vic leave with his sidearm. Where's he going? What's he doing? Who knows, we don't. Is he running? Killing himself (by his grin unlikely unless he does it in Acevada's office), or is he just becoming a problem for ICE. Either way, he's going down at some point, and he'd rather it be his way rather than ICE benching him like that
No matter what, best 7 seasons of any show I've ever been involved in, awesome from day 1 to the last moment. But nothing will beat Gardocki going away for life and Vic going "I'm sorry". LOL Claudette got her one last wish, treat Vic like a bitch and make him watch his partner go down.
Again, awesome endingComment

I'm not going to commit, but I will say that the ending may have put this show on par or above a certain 5 season HBO show.
I'm not going to commit until further review, which means I'll have to labor for weeks doing the laborious and difficult task of watching 7 seasons of The Shield and 5 seasons of an unnamed Baltimore based HBO show. Woe is me.Comment

Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
I would love if Vic neither went to jail or died. We dont need the typical "evil never triumphs" ending. I would love if he makes the drug bust, nobody kills him and he's basically benched for 3 yrs by the Feds because they cant fire him but they would be nuts to use him as an investigator.Comment

Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
I think it ended up being the best show of all time. So many unbelievable scenes throughout the 7 seasons. Sucks that it's over but I thought they ended it perfectly.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
Let me preface by saying I bailed on The Shield after Season 5, because like Nip/Tuck FX series became radically unrealistic. Forest Whitaker was GREAT that season even though he was one of my most hated characters on TV ever. I guess I was really bitter about Lemonhead and figured they couldn't make right on that.
But I heard about the Confession episode so I watched it and the finalé. Sure Vic is the anti-hero but once he hung Ronnie out to dry and I knew that he was going to have to string him along for an entire episode I didn't like him anymore. Shane always wanted to be a leader though he wasn't as smart as Vic. Shane went rouge and got the team and himself into a lot of ****. Lem was always a bit apprehensive about what they were doing. But Ronnie was just as loyal as you can be. And Vic acting in his own self interest to handle Shane or Lem could be justified through the prism of his logic but I just can't accept him betraying Ronnie like that. I know I'm stating the obvious yet going into that last episode you knew Vic was going to get away with everything and Ronnie was going to get played like all the other bad guys and I had nothing but disgust towards Vic from then on. So I was just along for the ride to see how things played out. (the murder suicide could be foreseen during the first 5 minutes of the show when Mara started talking about the kid going to foster care)
They did something really interesting with this because when Tony killed Chris I didn't get like this. But at least for me to go from an anti-hero to this repulsive figure is quite remarkable. I'm sure different people take it different ways but at the moment this is how I'm soaking it in.
btw I can't think of all the Julius Caesar characters off the top of my head and how they fit in but this show (and plenty others) has so many elements of that play/historic event.Comment

Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
I just got done watching it on my DVR.
I don't even know if I commented right now if I would be doing justice to the show. I am completely floored by what happened.
The worst part is that I never thought I would become attached to some of the characters I became attached to.
Some of them I never really liked, and when the show took me on the emotional rollercoaster ride it did this last season, I found myself re-evaluating the situation.
The ending was quite odd to me at first, but now it seems all too perfect.
I just wish I knew what happens next....Comment

Re: The Shield: Final Act (Season 7) Discussion
Great finale to a great show.
Shane and Mara were dispicable, but I was really bumbed by the murder-suicide. Shane should have at least spared his children.
Gardocki getting hauled off in cuffs after being strung along by Vic, was also tough to watch. Ronnie was as loyal as you could get and even though he's guilty, I hate to think of him rotting in prison while Vic is free.
Vic being benched was appropriate (great call, aholbert). His desk is his prison cell and his suits are his prison clothes. The last few minutes were classic Vic. He is briefly overcome by emotion, shakes it off, holsters his weapon, and gets back to doing what he does.XBL: Mean Greene

As for last night's finale, I still have mixed emotions over everthing. I was hoping for a Vic/Shane showdown, and when I saw what Shane did I felt sick. But, Ronnie's demise really made me feel bad. It was heartbreaking to see him taken away after Vic hung him out to dry. Did Vic get what he deserved? Maybe. As someone said, his cubicle is now his cell and his suit is his prison clothes. In the last scene when he was putting his weapon behind his back, I felt like he was contemplating running (mexico maybe) or going after Corine.
I've never watched a series where there were so many characters I absolutely hated. Dutch, Mara, Corine, Acevedo, even Claudette. I believe Dutch killed that kid's mom, he and his big nostrils are going to get away with it. I wanted to see Acevedo go down too. I've hated him since the first episode.
I'm sad that it's over, but honestly I don't think my heart could take anymore episodes, lol. This season was a roller coaster ride from hell.Comment
