No proof is right. All of the theories about humans being responsible for the warming trend is not proven. And arrogance comes from the fact that we think as humans we can even exert enough influence on our environment to cause a global warming epidemic. It's not only ridiculous it's outright laughable.

We exert enough influence over our planet to drive entire species into extinction, to make rivers and lakes so polluted they are unusable – why couldn't we alter our environment?
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, apples and oranges, it's a lot "easier" to pollute a lake or hunt or basically drive critters to extinction than to affect the global environment.

For some reason, this title just made me think of Vince Lombardi

Right. It's a proven fact that Vince Lombardi has been responsible for the core of the Earth increasing 1.7846 degrees each year since his death. It's just irrefutable evidence.

Oh, and I think he shot some deer once.

                      My $0.02:

I don't know whether global warming exists or not; I can read either sides' articles of "cherry-picked" data, I observe the comparisons in the polar icecaps' size from '50s and now, I can see the strategically-misplaced observation stations, etc. etc. In general, I tend to think that nature runs in cycles and humans may not have a cataclysmic effect on the environment, but we are certainly not helping.

Beyond the whole issue of global warming though, why oppose conservation and investment in alternative energy? By not burning oil, and/or switching to something like nuclear or solar power (or whatever new technology comes down the pike), we will clean the air up which will increase worldwide health. Also by making alternative energy practical, we can eliminate the expenses we have for oil overseas and put that money towards causes that need it, like our nations' school systems, infrastructure, economy, healthcare, defense, etc. etc. If we end up preventing global warming / cooling / whatever, hey it's an added bonus, but that's not the main reason we should be pursuing alternative energy.

Basically, it makes no sense to oppose investments in alternative energy / policies that will decrease the United States' dependence on oil, IMO.

                        100% agreed.

you're exactly right, this is what we need to do, continue to work on alternative energy sources and in the meantime drill our own oil in the united states. it's really pathetic IMO that we have more oil beneath us than the middle east and yet we don't utilize it.

Drilling here, now, in places like ANWR, makes complete sense. The environmental wackos are the main opposition and honestly they are losing ground each day that gas prices rise.

We will not prevent or affect global warming or cooling at all but for our own nation's economic independence we need to quit relying on foreign, hostile nations to provide us with a product that is our lifeblood.

I agree, it's too bad the environmental goofballs don't.
