What does this shirt mean to you?

I have this shirt...and I've been stopped on the street twice while I was wearing it. One guy yelled at me, "so hip hop is dead, eh?" and the other guy wanted to take a picture of it. I can't tell if they think I am wearing this shirt because I am taking a stand against all hip hop because I think it sucks (not true) or if they understand that I am making the point that I love hip hop, but I think that hip hop is basically dead right now. What does this shirt mean to you?

I think it means that you think hip hop is dead in its current state. How much more blatant can you get?

Hip hop is alive and well. Just because one doesn't like how the genre is going doesn't mean it's "dead".

Would you agree with the premise that mainstream hip hop is dead at least? One does have to dig awfully deep to find the good stuff non?

There certainly is still some good, REAL hip hop out there (speaking about mainstream), but it definitely is few and far between. I guess I didn't quite expect this quite of reaction to the shirt. My opinion is that true hip hop is getting taken over by "mainstream rapping (the lil waynes of the world)."

I'm sorry to say it, but if you're white wearing that T-shirt, you're going to get looked at as a *****. If you're black, then it's cool b/c most people are just going to assume you know what you're talking about.

yeah, my intention was to never put down hip hop or anything like that. I LOVE hip hop.
