Most popular is definitely football. Football also wins in revenue as well but MLB is actually not that far off. They've made huge strides in generating revenue for the league.

Football. They say Baseball is America's game, but I think football has passed it by.

Personally, my list is as follows:

1. Baseball
2. Football
3. Hockey

Basketball? Isn't that the sport that comes around every March and is not heard from again until next March?

Football also wins in revenue as well but MLB is actually not that far off.

But when you factor baseball vs football, it's not even close.

Baseball has MLB, but football has NFL and major college football. I would imagine that major college football is probably the most profitable league in the country.

As for the MLB numbers I saw a CNN report where they said revenues were double what they were at the time of the last strike. I can't remember the numbers offhand unfortunately but let's just say the NBA isn't making nearly as much money.

Speaking strictly from a pro sports point of view the NFL is the greatest earning pro sports league in North America. It is rare for an NBA venue to have more than a 20,000 seat capacity, whereas last year over 162 games (twice as many games as an NBA season) the MLB only had three teams average fewer than 20,000 in attendance.

If you're talking national TV revenue (approximate numbers):

NFL: $3.8 billion per season (Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC/ESPN)
MLB: $800 million per season (Fox, TBS, ESPN)
NBA: $700 million per season (ABC/ESPN, TNT)
NHL: $200 million per season (NBC, Versus, + CBC & TSN in Canada)

I'm not sure about MLB's regional TV revenue (YES, etc.).

This is hilarious, and yes im grilling him about LA and he's making every excuse in the world for the Lakers. It's funny but in this case he swears the L is better than the Magic/MJ/Bird years, he swears the NBA is more popular than what you hear, and he feels the reports are all bias.

This is a bit dated as the Cowboys are #1 now worth 1.5 billion based off the new stadium. But his shows the riches sports frnachise in the US. Football is clearly king.

He's too busy drinking purple kool aid... if i show him that link he'll say you can't believe it, they're just making that up as projections to bring in more money...LOL

This is the kind of stuff I deal with out here. I told him this particular site was independant and he feels they arent reliable.

Im not trying to convince him anymore, im basically on the phone laughing at him at everything it says.

You can't get better free comic relief than this, but i always try to research things im talking about if i can.
