    Re: Saw 5

    I'll watch it on DVD.

I thought IV was better than III and it may even be better than II.

That ad, though, is pretty freaky. Will that man ever truly die?
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I have Saw IV on blu ray but haven't gotten around to watch it. Maybe I'll watch it tonight.

Saw 3 and 4 were absolute crap. Any movie that comes out once a year is going to be terrible.

                New teaser trailer:

Lionsgate has just debuted the first short teaser trailer for the upcoming Saw V. Not everyone loves the Saw series, but there are still quite a few adamant fans that keep it alive (pun intended). This trailer doesn't show anything at all besides one very freaky trap - but that should be enough to get

Well, looks like High School Musical 3 will open the same day as this movie (October 24th). I suppose sales won't be affected very much for either movie, considering they are both exact opposite genres and target completely different people/age groups, and people that see one probably aren't inclined to see the other either way.

I'll probably see High School Muscial 3 before I see this one. Not because I don't want to see Saw 5, but because I know my daughter is going to want to see HSM3, the first day it comes out.

By the way, are we the only two people that liked Saw III? I mean, I personally absolutely loved it, but a lot of people here don't seem to find the emotional state the third and final chapter of the I - III trilogy built up for the ending. I loved the darkness of the film in that regard.

I liked III a lot better than II, but that's not saying much as I think II is the worst of the series by far.

I think we might be the only two that really enjoyed SAW III. I will stand by my enjoyment of SAW IV also, and I know you didn't care for it. SAWIII ended the original trilogy on a perfect note. But SAW IV does something that was thought unimaginable and it does an excellent job tying the previous trilogy with the new one using more than a band aid.

I agree with Longhorn that SAW II is the weakest in the entire franchise, but look how well it ties into SAW IV and I have a feeling that some of the characters from SAW II will be seen again in SAW V & VI. October can't get here fast enough, even though I have to go to 2 trips for work that month.........SAW V is going to be good.

As for your last statement, I had a "script" in development that involved Jonas and Michael from Saw II, as well as Mark from Saw (in a flashback). It also involved three new characters, Eric, Rigg, Cecil, and even K2K. This was all in one flashback scene. I'll dig it up if I can find it, I think you'd like the light mood it sort of sets and the transition it takes... something different from other Saw movies.

And just so you're aware, Blockbuster had a 3-for-$20 special on DVDs, so I got Saw IV, The Mist, and The Illusionist. I plopped in Saw IV, and started loving it. The first scene... awesome. However, there was some very annoying high-frequency sound (about 20 kHz) during most of the beginning of the movie. I suppose my stereo system could pick it up when regular sound from the TV normally can't. Anyway, a couple more scenes in, I was still patient enough with the movie to accept what was going on... but then the crap director Darren Bousman showed off his true talents, the story started to get jumbled, and then the credits started rolling... I soon realized why I never had bought it on DVD.

I want to return it, but can't find anything else that either isn't out, I don't want, or I don't already own as part of this deal. I figure as long as Saw V and Saw VI are good, I'll need this movie anyway.

I really can't wait for Saw V, though.
