    Re: Nas: Untitled

People acting overly sensitive of Nas because he dissed a television network. Haha, lucky that they don't get a load of the kind of things that Chuck D (Public Enemy) has ranted about over the years. Not to mention KRS-One, Brother J (X-Clan), and Paris. Man, times have changed so much.

As for the "Sly Fox" track, I haven't heard it for myself yet. But I applaud Nas for going with his heart to rap about this, and I wish more of today's well-known artists in general would attack various social and political issues that goes on. (Respect to Immortal Technique and Dead Prez, who has been holding the torch the last few years.) Too bad it goes back to the "appealing to mainstream" topic and following paths that are most frequently traveled.

Co-sign everything you said Sage. "Sly Fox" is tied for my second favorite song (with "The Slave and the Master"; "Hero" being my favorite song). I agree that he's talking about the media as a whole ("I turn on CBS and I See-B-S"), and the reason that Fox gets the brunt of the criticism is because of the O'Riely situation.

I don't know how much Nas buys into an alleged conspiracy theory (which I'm not going into any deeper than that due to TOS), but that song, "we're not alone", and many other lines (like the one in my signature) all have undertones of something much deeper than Fox and deeper than the media as a whole. Ill album.

I'm not really sure "We're not alone" is a conspiracy theory. Seems Nas just believes in aliens. And that dying of brain cancer qualifies as a mysterious disappearance.

I don't mean the whole song, just parts of it. I agree the majority of the song is about other life out there ("dying of brain cancer qualifies as a mysterious disappearance"... lol, that actually made me laugh).

Sorry. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to give my opinion on rap music.

And to the person above you, I actually DID listen to the song. But I guess your preconceived notions cause you to believe something no matter what.

I thought Nas would be better than other musicians who blatantly criticize politicians/news/events because it seems to be a trend nowadays. Being political and deep is one thing, but that garbage is pathetic and shouldn't come from someone with the skill that he possesses.

                    Yo.

                    STFU.

You complain in every single solitary thread. You never have anything positive to contribute to any conversation. It's very annoying.

What are those preconceived notions exactly? You've never commented on any rap thread and the one that you don't show up in is about someone criticizing Fox News so I feel confident in my assumption that you didn't listen to the album and like I said, if you did then it was a part of Sly Fox. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong but it's not a big deal either way.

You must never listen to Nas then because he's been talking about that stuff for years.

Just because I don't post in any rap threads doesn't mean I don't listen to rap music.

And you didn't say listen to the album, you said listen to the song. I haven't listened to the album yet but I've listened to the song. And it's ridiculous. The guy is criticizing Fox News directly, which is fine, I'm used to that. But he should realize that it's not like other media outlets aren't even more biased than Fox is.

And if you (or anyone) say that he's criticizing the media in general, then he should also realize that he gets a ton of publicity and makes tons of money off the media. Sure, he's not 50 Cent or anything, but he shouldn't be casting stones at the media in general when he's not exactly just some underground guy who's never on TV, radio, or magazines. Doing that is the same thing as people in Hollywood bitching and moaning about the country, when it's THIS COUNTRY that makes them who they are in the first place.

But whatever, I'm done with this thread. Don't wanna distract you guys from discussing his music. Not fair for me to waste my time and take the thread off course.

Nice attack telling me to STFU, 3A. Appreciate it.
