Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Just got home from Kendrick and Q.
Schoolboy Q had a fun set. He's so wild. Probably 60/40 on Oxymoron to mainly Habits & Contradictions. Only bad thing about being in Wisconsin, besides that obviously the crowd was there for Kendrick, it was a considerably younger aged crowd than the last time I saw either of them, it seemed like half the crowd even knew the H&C songs.
Kendrick came in with a heavy GKMC set, and Hood Politics, Alright, i, and King Kunta. I'm not surprised that he wouldn't do a lot from TPAB, but definitely wanted to hear These Walls. The only disappointment is that he talks about people who have "****ed with him since day 1", and refers to Section 80 and did a slowed down version of the hook on ADHD. Where as the last time I saw him he said that and threw it back to Training Day. ADHD was the only song of his he did that wasn't GKMC or TPAB. I'm an old fan of his who wanted to hear a couple from Section 80 or OD, oh well. He did however do the opening of Pac's Hail Mary, so that made up for it.
Overall it was a hell of a time. The last time I saw Q was over a year ago, so it was the same set, and KDot I saw almost 3 years ago, so it was very different, Swimming Pools and ADHD were the only songs he did at both shows, so it was wild to see two entirely different sets. The big difference was the venue. When I saw them the other times it was just at a smaller venue with the DJ and his laptop. This time there was drums, a keyboard, and a guitar, plus the DJ. So it was a difference vibe, very fun though. It was definitely worth it. For anyone who is a fan of hip hop and rap, you need to see Kendrick live one time in your life. He's so good.
A few pictures. The last one was during Sing For Me. He played a slowed down version of it and had everyone take out there cell phones and he had only a spotlight on him. It was really eerie, so cool though.

Bumping this in case anyone missed it and because this music video is really awesome with the 360 degree camera. I've had this song on repeat for two days now as I relate well to it.Comment

Also, a compliment battle. I've never felt so confused with a rap battle, but it was nice.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

And at the end of the day, ghostwriters or not, no one has put out a more fire album this year than If You're Reading This It's Too Late. I also don't expect that to change unless Kanye is cooking up another masterpiece, but I have my doubts there.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick.
