Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Fun fact: I had a dream when I was little where I saw Erykah Badu and she was bald and apparently it traumatized me so much that when I saw a music video with her in it I pointed at the TV, crying, and screaming "it's Badu!" like she was the boogeyman. The first time I listened to Baduizm was a few years ago.
Anyway, I needed some discogs to go through to Redman and Cam are good choices for that. Just realizing we're through half the year...
My 2020 playlist has 1006 songs in it and last 2.2 days, the vast majority of which is hip-hop and R&B, there's like 30 songs of other stuff, shout out to Haim. All of last year's playlist was 3.9 days so making good progress.
Top 10 played songs: Saint Jhn - Ransom, Drake - Demons, Future & Drake - Life is Good, Key Glock - I'm Just Sayin, Lil Baby - Emotionally Scarred, A Boogie & Uzi - Luv is Art, Stove God Cooks - Crosses, Key Glock - Flyest Highest Coolest Smoothest, Gibbs - 1985, Key Glock - Son of a Gun. Glock heavy year, going back through his stuff from before this year and "Gang **** No Lame ****" has both a 10/10 title and 10/10 beat drop.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I gotta keep reminding myself that you’re not as old as I am(33)because when I read that “I just listened to Baduizm for the first time a few years”, I was over here like [emoji2365][emoji23]
If you want some new discographies and don’t care about the genre, I would recommend going thru Erykah(especially since you just listened to Baduizm for the first time a few years ago)Jeezy, Ross and T.I.
If you want a little bit more, then go by record label like Rocafella, TDE, No Limit, Ruff Ryders.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I think with Andre 3000 you have the emergence of southern hip hop as a legitimate force, but also an artistic and creative force as well that added a lot of new flavors. Big Boi is great and the contrast between the two helped propel them, but something about 3000 always pulls me in more. His perspective always felt unique.
I can't get on the Badu hate train, though. She is fine. And apparently deadly, but I love her music, too. Baduism is a classic for sure, but my personal favorite is New Amerykah Part 1 (4th World War).
Pack - hope you're enjoying your Jesus year, too. It's been a doozy so far. People don't believe me when I tell them my age - they typically think I'm five years younger.

“These labels still jerkin’, I heard your deal came with a hundred thousand and some Jergens”
“Over the stove banging Pray for Paris, I think the UFO’s dropped the top blocks on the pyramids (that’s just me)”
“Everything is stamped, everything is wrapped
If the feds ask about me, tell them everything is cap”
Halfway through the year, 1 album and having only heard 1 of his 3 verses on the new WSG album, Stove God has won the year.
“Kneel on the brick, say the lords chant
Lux touched marble shine like the floors damp
Kilos under the hood with the Porsche stamp
Cartier goggles, bitch I’m Horace Grant”Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 07-03-2020, 07:58 AM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

^Was just coming to post that new Gunn project is Le Flames.
Stankonia is pretty much where I stop. I have to be in the right mood for Love Below and Idlewild I've basically just pulled out the the tracks I like. They still have some kickers on there, though.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Only listened to like 5 songs or so, I feel like Chief Keef set the blueprint for drill artists to come out with the hardest **** ever and then soften over time so my expectations are not that high. Listening to 44 Bulldog I thought this is like a softer version of Flexin’, then he literally started reciting lyrics from it. Just looking at the features I can pretty much tell this is not the drill album I’m looking for.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
