Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

      Quick backstory:

Apparently there's a verse that got cut from Pop's album where Push is dissing Drake again. Thug came out and said he doesn't **** with it, and doesn't want to be involved in the foolery. Push said he is the one that asked for Thug to be put on the song in the first place and he doesn't need his respect for what he brings to the rap game which is hilarious to me.

Anyway, what do you guys think about dissing people on a posthumous album? It's not a big deal to me, but I don't subscribe to the "respect the dead" stuff, I'm with Voltaire. The whole thing is weird to me to begin with, the idea of respect on a posthumous album. In the first 30 seconds of the album I'm listening to dude say "I look my killer in his eyes". I felt the same way when the first X feature after his death came out and the second line was "Let a ***** ***** try me like I'm Dej Loaf" and I'm like is this the verse we needed right now?

I mean they didn't push "Life After Death" back to remove all the subliminal disses towards 2Pac, Nas, Jeru The Damaja, etc. so why start making exceptions now?

And Pop Smoke wasn't the one throwing shots it was Push, but hey they literally changed the album cover to appease fans. Removing a verse as to not ruffle feathers sounds about right in the modern rap industry.

And apparently Eminem is guilty of doing the exact same thing a few years back with the "Bang (Remix)" he was on. Of course, the circumstances aren't as dire & sad with the death of Pop Smoke & Eminem just having regular beef with Revolt/Joe Budden.

        **** is super wack, IMO.

The verse isn’t even the main issue from folks.

The issue to some is that he’s still dissing Drake because apparently in hip hop, there’s an expiration date as to when you’re supposed to stop dissing someone, after you’ve won a battle.

              Really?

That is the issue at hand? Come on, he can continue to throw shots until he sees fit.

People forget that Nas & Jay-Z were sending subliminals for years before Takeover/Ether & years after the fact (until Black Republican & Nas joining Def Jam).

It can seem cheesy, but it is their content & music so if want to carry on (with throwing shots) so be it.

Also, the beef is way more personal than just being on wax. There is legitimate animosity involved with Drake/Lil wayne & Pusha T. I think people forget that long simmering tension and/or hatred when these subliminals continue on.

It’s been mainly Drake fans throwing a fit over this.

Which is funny because Drake spent a whole year and some change going after Meek even after he finished him off with Charged Up and Back to Back.

Right, and he literally spent most of his last release & the SICKO MODE verse going at 'Ye. Who has never addressed or dissed him on wax (to my knowledge).

He told him calm down on No Mistakes, but that was after Duppy. Sicko Mode is underrated for comedy, talking about spinning the block for your neighbor in Hidden Hills is hilarious.
