Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Quick backstory:
Apparently there's a verse that got cut from Pop's album where Push is dissing Drake again. Thug came out and said he doesn't **** with it, and doesn't want to be involved in the foolery. Push said he is the one that asked for Thug to be put on the song in the first place and he doesn't need his respect for what he brings to the rap game which is hilarious to me.
Anyway, what do you guys think about dissing people on a posthumous album? It's not a big deal to me, but I don't subscribe to the "respect the dead" stuff, I'm with Voltaire. The whole thing is weird to me to begin with, the idea of respect on a posthumous album. In the first 30 seconds of the album I'm listening to dude say "I look my killer in his eyes". I felt the same way when the first X feature after his death came out and the second line was "Let a ***** ***** try me like I'm Dej Loaf" and I'm like is this the verse we needed right now?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

And Pop Smoke wasn't the one throwing shots it was Push, but hey they literally changed the album cover to appease fans. Removing a verse as to not ruffle feathers sounds about right in the modern rap industry.
And apparently Eminem is guilty of doing the exact same thing a few years back with the "Bang (Remix)" he was on. Of course, the circumstances aren't as dire & sad with the death of Pop Smoke & Eminem just having regular beef with Revolt/Joe Budden.
**** is super wack, IMO.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
The verse isn’t even the main issue from folks.
The issue to some is that he’s still dissing Drake because apparently in hip hop, there’s an expiration date as to when you’re supposed to stop dissing someone, after you’ve won a battle.#RespectTheCultureComment

That is the issue at hand? Come on, he can continue to throw shots until he sees fit.
People forget that Nas & Jay-Z were sending subliminals for years before Takeover/Ether & years after the fact (until Black Republican & Nas joining Def Jam).
It can seem cheesy, but it is their content & music so if want to carry on (with throwing shots) so be it.
Also, the beef is way more personal than just being on wax. There is legitimate animosity involved with Drake/Lil wayne & Pusha T. I think people forget that long simmering tension and/or hatred when these subliminals continue on.

Which is funny because Drake spent a whole year and some change going after Meek even after he finished him off with Charged Up and Back to Back.#RespectTheCultureComment

He told him calm down on No Mistakes, but that was after Duppy. Sicko Mode is underrated for comedy, talking about spinning the block for your neighbor in Hidden Hills is hilarious.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Across four hours of interviews, the rap billionaire says he’s never voted, has recovered from Covid—but doubts vaccines and envisions running a presidency modeled on Wakanda in “Black Panther.”

“I was taught to love my brothers, and to hate the other side”- Juice “Stephen Jackson” WRLD [emoji23] WHAT A ****ING WEEK
Cudi and...Eminem have a song together, definitely didn’t expect that but it’s not bad. Em hitting us with “Got a little green, but I don’t do weed, purp nor lean, that’s Tunechi, that’s New Orleans, **** Drew Brees” was funny. Boldy deluxe, Fresh Veggies 2 even though 1 came out when I was like a sophomore in college and I haven’t heard from either of these dudes in years, shout out Aladdin though.
Hearing Black Thought take the “I am half Masta Killa and half Hugh Masekela” (which is a flip of a Phonte line from So Help Me God” reminder me we never got the Phonte BT supergroup we were supposed to.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Caught this on Revolt last night, missed it somehow when it came out, super dope.

Can't walk the wrong neighborhoods, hi Karen
You focus on the riots, you gon' focus on the lootin'
You gon' focus on the violence, everything besides the shootin'"
He said he wrote it 2 years ago, and they just let him put it out. It's not on Apple Music yet, but the between verse footage is just so hard to listen to, I don't think I could play it too much anyway.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
