Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like Girls Love Beyonce.

I'm a big fan of Kanye's previous solo albums, but Yeezus made me want to cry out in agony. Bad production and bad lyrical content. I really shouldn't judge that...thing as a hip hop album, anyway. Whatever it was, I wouldn't pay a nickel for that trash.

I felt the opposite about Born Sinner. Thought it had the best production of any of his mixtapes/TSS, and Cole always bring the lyrical content. I thoroughly enjoyed the album from start to finish. My favorite tracks (from what wasn't released previously) are Runaway, Rich N****z, Forbidden Fruit, Let Nas Down and the title track.

Listened to The Gifted album through itunes stream, not bad at all expected it to be terrible. Didn't like Rotation or Clappers, but everything else was solid. However, I have expectations for The Album About Nothing.

What's the general consensus about the Wale albums. Which are the best? And what are everyone's expectations for The Gifted?

Attention: Deficit was pretty solid IMO. For whatever reason it just didn't sell and led to Wale in turn (arguably) selling out to MMG.

Ambition had a few decent tracks but that was about it.

Keep in mind I'm not really the biggest Wale fan though. Also, I haven't listened to all of The Gifted yet either.

Anything IMO post Attention: Deficit, is pretty trash. He just changed up his whole sound. His whole flow. MMG Wale is really not worth listening to at all. I used to be a HUGE fan of Wale, and I can't even stomach to turn on a song of his anymore.

Wale is one of the few artists who can legitimately be labeled a sell-out. It's amazing how quick and how drastically he changed after signing with Ross.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I think this Born Sinner is better than the Sideline Story.

Cole absolutely stepped out of his shell. Came out with that illuminati talk, that Beyonce line was PRICELESS.

                          The album is beyond stellar.

I was expecting it to be terrible, so that's probably why I thought it was decent.

Anything Attention Deficit and earlier is great as mentioned, a lot of his freestyles on youtube are gold as well.
