There is no consensus number one or greatest of all time rapper. Too subjective. Seriously all the reasons people give can be applied to many different rappers. Not only that there is such a huge difference between regions and styles its absurd. Now personally i'd say Rakim is the GOAT, since his style developed most of what you hear today. Hell, Kane could even be argued as just influential.

But as i said, i'm sure west coast and southern guys have a total different view. (Example, Scarface and UGK fit all the "criteria" for GOAT, so could Too Short or E-40)

Never liked that whole greatest arguments man.

IMO, the greatest rapper of all time has to be 2Pac when you look at overall body of work, influence, and skill. I'm not even a 2Pac fan.

                      My Top 3

                      1. GZA
                      2. Rakim
                      3. Nas

But, I agree with JammimusPrime. Far too subjective.

I really like 2Pac's earlier albums. 2pacalypse Now and Strictly for my... especially. "Violent" was my all time favorite cut he ever had.

I'm from Chicago, and my top 5 rappers are:

                          2pac
                          Nas
                          Jay-Z/Biggie/Scarface

2pac and Nas are cemented as my #1 and #2. The other three rotate depending on my mood. Right now, I probably listen to Jay more than Face and Biggie because he has new material. Biggie only had two albums, but its hard to take him out of my top 5 cause those albums were so ill. Face doesn't have one wack album in my opinion and he has "sho nuff" classic records.

Do some of you not understand what the quotes mean?

Notice I said "consensus", meaning there's wiggle room for other artists to be considered as well. My point was that he is not the consensus best ever. Anyway BP3 actually wasn't the worst but it's still pretty bad.

Also, and no, it's not just some "random *** people" that say he's the greatest. Why would you say that.
