Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I think Bobby Ray's already surpassed Lupe in mainstream appeal with just Nothin' On You, thanks to Bruno Mars. That dude's voice is so appealing. Everyone I know who never even heard of B.o.B until Nothin' On You say the reason they like the song is cause of the chorus. Hell, I think it's the same for me. He's not that great on that track.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

          Speaking of Lu and BoB...

It's ok, sounds like it'll have some radio play...I was expecting something with mediocre lyrics that would appeal to mainstream.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I just remembered Game's R.E.D. Album was "supposed" to come out tomorrow. It likely would've leaked if it was coming out tomorrow so I checked up on Wikipedia (I know) and found this:

The first official single to be released is "Ain't No Doubt About It" featuring Justin Timberlake.
And the release date for the album is supposedly June 15th. Hopefully this time it's legit, but to be honest my expectations are a little low for this one.

I also looked up on some other albums. Again, this is from Wikipedia so take it for what its worth.

-Some of this was posted already but there's a couple other bits like a possible June release for "Good *** Job":

Recently, West has reportedly been in Hawaii, working on his new album. Drake and G.O.O.D. Music artist Big Sean, both frequent collaborators, have confirmed it is in progress, implying that they are working on the project[59]; Big Sean confirmed that the album's working title is Good *** Job[60], which West had previously claimed would be his fourth album, before the release of 808's & Heartbreak. West has cited Maya Angelou, Gil Scott-Heron and Nina Simone as his musical inspirations for this album. Further, rumors have surfaced that producer Pete Rock is in Hawaii working on the project as well; it is also possible that DJ Premier is involved.[61] More recently it has been reported that outside production will come from RZA and Q-Tip, and that the new album will be released in June 2010.[58]

-Drake's "Thank Me Later" was pushed back 3 weeks to June 15th (same day as R.E.D. Album)

Later, Rap-Up revealed that the album would be released sometime in spring.[11] It was later confirmed that a May 25, 2010 release has been scheduled.[18] However, Universal Motown stated the album has been pushed back three weeks to June 15, 2010.[19]

-There is no Relapse 2 coming from Em, but instead a completely new album.

On April 13, Eminem tweeted "There is no Relapse 2". to his 620,768 followers at approximately 10:20 pm (Pacific Standard Time). When he tweeted that people started to beleive that he was not releasing an album at all, but it meant simply that the album would be changed to "recovery". He confirmed this by tweeting "RECOVERY" with a link to his website. Eminem said “I had originally planned for ‘Relapse 2’ to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to ‘Relapse’ started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on ‘Recovery’ came out very different from ‘Relapse,’ and I think it deserves its own title.” His seventh studio album "recovery" is due to be out on June 22nd 2010[16][17].

-Lupe has no idea when Lasers will be coming out

In an interview with Australian radio station Triple J, Lupe revealed that although the album had been submitted to his label, they still had no solid release date for it. He stated: "It’s one of the sadder parts of being on a major record label. At a certain point it’s out of your hands. About a date for Lasers, it’s truly on them. I have no idea what they’re going to do."[14]

So if most of this is true, it looks like June is going to be a real nice month. Sucks about Lasers though.
