not feelin it. i can't even begin to say how depressing jay z is now...not one clever line there, and really just a rambling "verse," so weak lyrically

kanye actually went ok between his BS "clap clap clap" crap and the point where Swizz comes in.

but swizz? wtf are they thinking....who is this guy blackmailing to get on these songs? killl yourself for allowing that, kanye

Yeah, Jay's part was weak and Kanye did have a solid last verse. But IDK why the hell they let Swizz put his grimey hands on this beat. It was fine as it was, but he made it a bit of a mess IMO.

does anyone have any comments on the replay value of the songs that have been real hyped the last couple years?

does any music have any replay value at all at this point? or is the game just way too saturated?

just thinking off the top of my head about songs like Power..

          Power Remix
that reunion song between Jay Z and Nas? Maybe there was 2 of them?
That horrible song with like Jay Z, Kanye, Drake with the MIA hook?

maybe its just anything Hova touches at this point....gets hyped, internet goes nuts for about 24 hours over some song....2 weeks (2 days?) later nobody is listening or cares anymore. Or are they?

Not feeling that remix at all but nice to see Swizz is TRYING to keep himself relevant out here.

As a matter of fact, I think that's ONE song that doesn't need a remix.

Speaking of "replay value" I was listening to Ghostface's The Champ a couple mornings ago and the line about Laffy Taffy came up and I had to laugh. That's the first time I've thought of that song in a very long, long time.

I think the main problem with mainstream music (and this is just a broad, sweeping statement not directed at one specific genre) is that everything is played into the ground that nobody wants to hear it anymore no matter how good it is/was initially. I try to stay far away from the mainstream radio stations as much as possible because its the same setlist day after day and half the "new" songs are played 10+ times daily. I know why its done this way, but there is so much music out there its ridiculous.

I just listen to CD's and Pandora in my car for this reason. Only listen to the talk show in the morning when school's in but besides that I hate the radio because it ruins songs. Our main hip hop station up here will literally play a new song twice within one hour every hour except during the Old school lunch.

Lupe is the king of replay value songs. Just trying to find all the metaphors in his song can take a lot of replays. And I'm still listening to Recovery so IMO that album has a lot of replay value.

I agree though, it's hard to find songs with replay value nowadays.

Probably a weird idea, but would you guys be utterly surprised if Tupac ghost wrote for lupe?

btw thats a great song. Is that the official title of the new cd?

I think it's Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album. It's also the album after L.A.S.E.R.S., whenever the hell that's going to come out.

So he skipped a cd with this song or is he still releasing three albums at once?

Lupe's plan was to finish his contract out with Atlantic then drop LupE.N.D. He has three albums left on his contract. Lasers, Great American Rap Album, and a third. According to multiple sources, one being Lupe's "manager"(who sold me the tour shirt) I spoke to at one of the Steppin' Lasers show, have said that Lasers and Great American Rap Album are both finished and he's currently working on the third one. But the way he's been talking in some of his newer songs and at his shows is that he's realized how much his fans love him and that he wants to make more music for them. Now, I'm not so sure about LupE.N.D. being the actual end. We'll see. Lasers still needs to drop first.

Regarding "Go To Sleep", I don't know how I feel about it right now. I don't want to say anything until I full dissect the verses. I made the mistake of making a quick judgment of his verse on Past my Shades and after really listening to it, I felt like an idiot for saying such a thing. Not really liking this slow flow. Hopefully, it isn't a frequent thing.

So are Atlantic being a$$holes and not letting him release his cd's all at once? Or even releasing them I mean they are done why aren't they out?
