It's just hope for the better, and like I said, since ABC ****-canned Bryan Fuller's Pushing Daisies (an excellent show that is sorely missed) maybe he can bring Heroes back to Season One quality when he was on the writing staff.

The problem with this show, like Lost had, is that the writers do not know when it will end. Because they have no clue how long it will run they have to waste time stalling with people losing powers, getting powers, going to the future, turning evil, turning good, etc. When Lost got an end date the writers were able to sit down and plan everything out and not waste our time with another season like season 2 in which nothing happened.

That's why I think character development is a little overused imo (or am I just confused ). I don't need a character to change that much over time. I just want them interesting and that means adding grey areas to their decision making. If everyone stays in a narrow stereotype things get boring over time. That's why a guy like HRG is so cool. He's not going to change but you never know what he's going to do since he rides the fence unlike a guy like Hiro who still remains obsessed with becoming a hero. Claire is very annoying for me because of this. Her character is very black and white - always hating dad never seeing that tough decisions are sometimes necessary.

That I can definitely agree with.

It's why Sylar and Noah are far and away the two best characters - while they may teeter along that line every now and then, you always know who they truly are and despite the many faces that they can and have thrown on in the course of the show, they stick true to themselves and it makes them good.

Peter is a damned good character, but he just ends up getting the short stick every season (sans 1 when he was awesome). He trusts people and that is his major character flaw, but I don't really mind his as much because that is who he is. Compare that to a character like Hiro who wants to be a hero so badly yet gives up so many times it just gets annoying. Claire is just plain annoying. As is Nathan - though, I haven't minded him much in the first two episodes because I'm supposed to hate him. We'll see how Suresh and Parkman grow this season. Hopefully Traci dies. Ando is a waste.

I think I hit on all of the major characters there.

Sylar and Noah are by far the two best characters and they manage to keep poorly written episodes from being a complete bust. Everyone hates Nathan right now but that's a good thing because that's what they're going for. Nathan is probably doing the 3rd best job of the characters. Peter was a character with so much potential from season 1 but they've stripped of all of it, not only powers-wise, but also as a character. He can only do the over-dramatic, naive little brother routine who thinks he can save the world so many times before it gets old. Claire's character is just a straight up brat; she's getting more and more unlikeable. Hiro was okay as comic relief at times but he's getting more and more unbearable as well. I pretty much agree with you on the rest of the characters.

                Badass episode, in my opinion.

And next week looks...well, like it could be one of my favorites.

                  1. Tracy freezes gov't analyst who falls and shatters into pieces.
                  2. Nathan confronts "Hunter" for letting Tracy out and getting an innocent person killed. Hunter blows it off, so Nathan mentions apologizing to his blood stain as its still warm.

                  Top notch writing there!

It was an extremely slow episode for me with the exception of Sylar, who is one of the very best things going on tv today.

Did anyone find that Sylar driving an old station wagon kind of sucked? The radio music was a little obvious as well.

Overall I thought it was an average episode. I'm just not feeling this new chapter that much. I don't sense the mystery and intrigue of the good chapters. It just seems like a straight up good vs. bad war brewing which is OK but just isn't clicking for me.

I don't understand Tracy freezing that guy at all though. Isn't the point of having a hostage to get something in return? Can't really do that when you needlessly kill him and easily allow yourself to be captured. It would be like Sarah Conner in T2 killing the doctor rather than blackmailing the people to let her out.

Claire and Hiro become more and more annoying every episode. I did like the twist at the end with them taking down HRG. Next week could be really good (I hope).

I love the episode, I personally like them taking characters and expanding on them, unlike before where 100 different things were happening at once.

I agree...any episode with a good amount of Sylar and HRG is a good episode. Hiro and Ando weren't even that annoying, though hopefully Hiro finds a way to get his powers back because the whole "I'm going to be a hero without powers" thing is going to be annoying.
