Superman is a very boring character.

If WB approves the script filming is suppose to start in March so I would say summer 2010 but if they decide to part ways with Singer and do a reboot we could be waiting a while. I hope they keep Routh as Superman he did a great job IMO

Only when he's treated as an infallible character with no self doubt. I don't know if a movie should do this but when I was reading the comics they had Supes very self concious about his role in the world. He often had self doubt, wondering if what exactly he was doing was right for the world.

Thinking about it more it would come across as a bit too heavy handed and emo-ish if they did that on the big screen.

Good reasoning. I see elaboration is not a tool you care to use.

I liked Returns, but I do agree that they REALLY need to go to a new villian. Darkseid or Brainiac would be awesome, and finally make for some worthwhile fight scenes for Superman. I can't imagine a scene with Supes and Darkseid destroying each other all over Metropolis in the vein of Hulk and Abomination from the new Hulk film, but multiplied times 10.

And hey, if they don't go with Darkseid or Brainiac, they could always do Nuclear Man again!

That may be the only way I'd check it out, a nice guarantee that Superman gets his *** kicked and dies.

I think that'd be a good topic to cover assuming they don't go overboard, like you said. It was briefly touched on in the deleted scene from Donner's Superman where he is confiding in his father after the standard "hero montage." And the only other time I think it's even approached was in Superman II when he "sacrifices" his powers to be with Lois.

'Returns' was horrible, corny and bland, as was the original Donner movie everyone fawns over for some unknown reason.

I loved Superman Returns and was glad to see it have the same tone and feel as Donner's Superman. I don't want an over the top cartoony comic book world like the older batman films were, leave that in the comics. I prefer a more realistic world with fanatsy elements and dramatic acting with orchestral soundtracks.

Superman Returns was awful IMO. Wouldn't see the sequel.

I liked the cast in Superman Returns, just hated the plot of it and the inclusion of Super Boy.
