Pretty entertaining movie, actually had a lot of funny moments, but man the 2 asian neighbors were HORRIBLE actors, especially the boy.

This movie would have been so much better if they could have hired a decent actor to play that kid, man he was inexcusable.
And not to quote the Ringer, but I've literally seen better acting in pornos.

I just finished it and it's a really good movie. A lot of quotables but none that I could use since I gave up foul language though.

The movie was outstanding just because of Eastwood and the daughter. Absolutely loved it.

Excellent movie. I sat there at the end and just stared at the screen, thinking of some of the very meaningful points made.

I like the comparison of Walt's character to his son, how his son was living with so much, the nice car, home etc. Meanwhile, Walt has tools that took him a lifetime to gather and he held on to the car he treasured.

It just spoke to me about how sometimes we want what took our parent's years to obtain and how we don't hold true sentiment with some of our possessions.

          Great movie.

(I agree though...that boy wasn't good. The scene where he's baning on the locked caged door...not good..lol)

I liked this movie...the "Get off my lawn" scene was great. I was laughing out loud at a lot of the blatantly racist remarks. By the end though, they had me caring about the characters, the sign of a good movie.

Just watched this the other night. I saw the advertisements and didn't really know what to expect. And obviously, there was a lot they couldn't show in the advertisements. Clint had me rolling with some of his lines, his character was so dang offensive if was funny. But yea, I agree the boy was a poor actor. I didn't think the girl was so bad, though.

I didn't think this movie was anything special at all. People were trying to tell me that this was up there with Mystic River. Not even close.

I liked it better than Mystic River myself.

Don't get me wrong MR was a good movie, but I liked this better and will watch it again...something I didn't do with MR. I liked the characters better, how they developed, hell..the dialogue, and the ending didn't have me wondering what the hell just happened.

And no, I am not the only one who got lost at the ending of MR. The IMDB has pages of threads of people arguing over WTH happened at the end of that movie.

Bought the DVD today and watched it. I must say this was a pretty good movie. Clint plays such a hardened, racist, prick(and so well) the whole movie. It's cool what he does for those kids and how he takes care of the gang was cool as well. I can see how some would not take well to all the racist remarks in this movie, but it is funny how many of them Clint spouts off.

I didn't see this thread when I saw this but the movie is horrible. Not only is it just a "hey let's watch this old man say racist things" movie but the acting is terrible.

I really don't get all the negative vibes regarding this movies racist slurs. I mean, who didn't know what they were getting into when they saw this? Did you see the trailers? Read the back of the box?

That's like saying..."I didn't appreciate all that violence in Passion of the Christ!"

I mean, did you see Spike Lees "Do the right thing."? What did you think about the slurs in that movie? How many of you nearly turned off your sets during that film? What about Eddie Murphys "Raw" or "Delirious"? Did that offend you?

My final opinion on this li' topic is...I'm don't think he was a cross burning, sheet wearing, David Duke voting racist some people in this thread think he was.

Sure he used slurs. Seriously, who here hasn't used a slur? He was a Korean War vet, so he had some issues with Asians. He fought and killed some in the war, they fought and killed his buddies. My dad is a Vietnam Vet, he uses slurs occasionally towards Asians. Not often, but he does. And the barbershop scene and the job interview scene with the kid. That is how he talks to his friends. That is how they talk to him. They razz each other. I do too with my friends. If he was such a racist, why would he patronize their respective businesses so often and give 'em his hard earned money? He liked 'em and was just playing around with them, and vice versa.

I'm Mexican-American. There was a couple of barbs thrown "my way". I thought it was funny, and I know that is how some people talk about us when we're not around. I don't think that makes 'em "racist". And in the case of my buddies of various ethnic backgrounds..they talk like that WHEN I'm around. And me to them. It's all good.

It was an enjoyable movie, a lot of it due to the hilarity of some of the things Eastwood said.

But like everyone else in this thread said, that boy's acting was flagrantly bad. I'm actually wondering how the hell he landed that role.

You are the first person Ive seen say this movie was horrible. I have to wonder if the language is what turned you off because I cant see how anyone really hated this movie.

Side note, since I see so many damn people bringing the acting up. The "actors" werent actual actors and were just everyday people cast in the role, ie. the main kids in the movie, its what they wanted when they cast the part and its what they got. Again, those were not actual actors.

Probably should have gotten real actors then, since I am sure they would have nailed the everyday people vibe better. All I was thinking was "These kids are very bad actors".

Also, as long they were paid to act, I'm calling them actual actors, and they were bad at it.
