That's a good point. It probably took some tough no deal calls for him to get as far as he did.

I agree with this. I'd go into the show with a number in my head and probably leave when and if the offer exceeded my number assuming the board was not at that point favorable.

Being stuck in that exact situation with three cases, I would have done the same. The benefit of gaining $400K and only losing $200K is worth it to me. But with just two cases, a 50/50 chance (even with favorable pot odds), the threat of winning nothing out weighs the benefit of adding an additional $600K and I would have taken the money.

Statistics are nice over the course of numerous events, but in a single event I am not comfortable with a 50/50 chance of winning nothing when I can guarantee that I will a sizable amount of money...I'll take a guaranteed $400K over an even chance to win $1M any day of the week.

Co-sign. I would sleep just fine at night knowing I missed out on a million dollars if I got 400K vs. missing out on a million dollars and only getting $1.

An interesting question this brings up:

Say that only two cases are left, the million and the 1. What is the lowest offer you would be willing to take?

            Totally boneheaded-no defense for it.
