Now, talking with Empire Online, he revealed some new details about his ambitious eight-hour screen story which "will follow the entire life of Kal-El."
Millar says the plan will be one saga in three parts, each film released a year apart. Millar says ""It's gonna be like Michael Corleone in the Godfather films, the entire story from beginning to end, you see where he starts, how he becomes who he becomes, and where that takes him."
So that will involve what exactly? "I want to start on Krypton, a thousand years ago, and end with Superman alone on Planet Earth, the last being left on the planet, as the yellow sun turns red and starts to supernova, and he loses his powers."
The Dark Knight has proven, that a Superhero movie can and should do more than just be about action, but should contain a compelling story. The thing with Superman is that he's a Boyscott. He is a good as can be.
What would be great for a director/writer to do is turn that upside down. We don't necessarily need a Dark Superman since that's not his character, but a Superman whose been put in a situation where he has to really re-think his morals. He has to be put in a situation where his super power don't do anything for him.
A simple generic example of this, is putting Superman in a situation where he has to either save Lois Lane (he love of his life) or hundredths of people. Such a decision would not only greatly affect him, but all those that look up to him. Saving Lois means, the rest of the world sort of shun him for all the lives lost, yet saving the people means a broken heart with no more Lois Lane.
They can even go further with making him so Angry he does the unthinkable and decides to end the life of the person responsible for the death of Ms. Lane. Then we can really see his character fall apart.
Like i mentioned before, he's one of the more interesting characters because he's so one sided. The thing is no one has been able to bring turn his morals upside down on him. No one has been able to push him in ways that he can't push back.
With Batman, we know he's the Dark Knight. If Batman was to kill someone, yes there would be anger, but because he is this darker character, it wouldn't be on the same level as Superman doing it. Putting a one sided character like Superman in a situation he can't control is the best way to truly explore his character and his emotions.
Superman isn't like some of the other super heroes out there. He looks for acceptance because he's so different. Also putting him in a role where the people have turned away from him is another good idea.
About a new Superman movie, i really think they should use Brainiac. We're currently in a time where technology is so huge. They can start Brainiac as a virus that has spread through the internet. Another good thing is, Brainiac trying to create himself a body. We all know we need a person that can go head to head with Superman.
They can have Brainiac setting up situations where Superman is tested emotionally, and also have him try to build himself a body that can go head to head with Superman. That wouldn't be as far fetched as Doomsday or Darksied.
