    Garmin GPS

There is a recertified Garmin StreetPilot c550 on NewEgg for $119.99 shipped. Sounds like a great deal but I'm not sure about getting a recertified GPS unit. I'm basically thinking either get this or wait and try to get the nuvi 205 on Black Friday that will be around $130 after tax and such. What do you guys think?

Basically I'm wondering how big of a roll of the dice the recertified product is. There's a 30-day return policy which is not very long and I'm not sure how much confidence to have in it since it is recertified. The price is great, so it all comes down to how reliable it will actually be.

Here is the link to the NewEgg page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16858108336

Well I decided to go with the recertified one on NewEgg, I'll try to use it a lot over the next 30 days and make sure it works I guess. I think that it's a much better deal and I read a lot of positive things about that version of it online. It's a much higher end model with Text to Speech, only thing is it's now a discontinued model but it still appears to be leaps and bounds over the 205. Now just hopefully there's no problems with it.

My cellphone has a GPS system on it and it works great. There is a small fee for using, but I have not had any trouble with it whenever I do use it.

That's an older model Garmin. My father has had it for 2 years or so and loves it. I've used it several times before picking up a Garmin Nuvi. Only difference between the two is the size. It has all the features you'll need to get where you're going.

Anyone know what brands/etc I should look for in the next month or two? I'd like to get a cheaper GPS, but one with Text to Speech (don't want one just saying "Turn Right", I want it saying streets)....

Is Garmin the top? Tom Tom? Magellan? I just don't know enough, gotta research at some point...

From my experience and talking with others. I'd say Garmin is one of the top GPS units available. Look hard enough, and you can find a good deal on one.

The one I ordered has Text To Speech, but it was a recertified one. It should be here in the next couple of days hopefully.

My Garmin StreetPilot c550 arrived this morning via UPS. I have been using to and from work and such just to test it out and it is pretty sweet. The Text-To-Speech is awesome, can't wait to use it more out of town. It looks new, no problems thus far and it even came with the 2009 maps.

Think this is a good deal?

Amazon has a Garmin Nuvi 760 for 250

                            http://www.amazon.com/Deals-Electron...pf_rd_i=548166

I'm not sure what the other ones on sale are elsewhere and if it's worth it for the more expensive one or not (there are a few in the 100-200 dollar range...)
