Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go
I also read to that this film doesn't feel anything like the remake and could have been a completely different film if it weren't for the mask. LOL! Reading that has me a bit concerned.Comment

Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go
I hate the original remake, total POS movie. My buddies saw this last night after I said no to going. Called me half way through the movie as my one buddy walked out. All of them said it was God awful. LOL
Saved me $10Comment

Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go
I was eager to going (like the remake, though the second half is far inferior), but I have a feeling Zombie messed up with this one. You'd figure he (and other directors) would get their acts together after being criticized about faults in an attempt at something, especially someone like Michael Bay in Transformers. But we were mislead into thinking they could actually behave themselves and in fact go the opposite route, making us more frustrated.
I may save $10 seeing this as well, but I still want to see it.
My biggest problem has to be:
SpoilerThe concept of trying to justify why Michael continues to kill. That has a lot to do with Sherri Moon and the white horse in the film. To some people that are bashing the film, it made no sense, but to me I understand what he was trying to do here. I don't think that he needed to justify Michael's killing spree and why he is the way that he is. I think what he setup in the first film was enough of a backstory and that is all we needed. Zombie tried too hard to make Michael human and show his human side. In some ways I am happy about it and others I am not considering the occult crap in Halloween 6.
Then add that Dr. Loomis dies in this one and he is truly dead considering how Michael stabbed the living light out of him and cut his face up big time. The problem is that the way Dr. Loomis was portrayed in this film was kind of shocking. He came off as an ego maniac that only cared about money and greed.
The ending was just so out there that it makes me worried if Zombie decides to make a third film with the possible direction.
Plus I think that Brackett is the new Loomis type character if this series continues.
I like Rob Zombie's films and music, but please do not allow him to make a H3 because based on the ending I fear the worst. It is time either the series receives yet another reboot or another writer/director steps in. I would vote for a reboot personally. Just like when Donald Pleasance passed away, it took away an element of the Dr. Loomis character missing from the later films.
If you enjoyed Zombie's original, you may like this one even though it does take a few wrong turns.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 08-29-2009, 11:42 PM.Comment

Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go
Okay, well again I'm still inclined to see it, but now that I'm in school $10 is kind of a day of food for me, so I might have to find another way to see it.
And don't the commercials say something about Zombie "finishing his created vision" or whatever with H2? I figured this would kind of be the last one.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go
I think Zombie needs to stick to original material, IMO. House of 1000 Corpses may be ****ed up, but its definitely his. I think the Halloween mythos kind of holds him back.

I can't bash Zombie for trying though, the guy loves horror and its in his heart. Both Corpses and Rejects plays huge homage to the older horror films and of course Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But these reimaging films need to stop.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 08-29-2009, 09:51 PM.Comment

Thanks to our boy BC and his incredible hawk eyes for catching an article over at the LA Times that will make Michael Myers fans very happy. Apparently, Rob Zombie hasn't put an end to franchise as the Weinstein brothers are already planning a return to Haddonfield in 2010 with Halloween 3D. While Halloween II only opened at the #3 spot this weekend, had it not started a fist fight with The Final Destination, it would have easily taken the top spot and make over $30m. The Weinsteins knows this and are quickly making plans for a third film.
From the LA Times:
""Halloween II" may not have won the box office this weekend, but Weinstein Co. is taking a lesson from the movie that did as it prepares a sequel for next summer.
The independent studio's co-Chairman Bob Weinstein said today that the 3-D sequel, titled, appropriately enough, "Halloween 3D," is in development.Comment

Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go
I saw the movie Friday night and came away disappointed and a little perplexed by the direction that the film went. As a huge fan of the original Halloween & Halloween II, I admit that I was skeptical about Zombie's remake. After seeing his version of Halloween a few years ago, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the fact that he kept to the original storyline, for the most part and I enjoyed it. This one however, was hard to digest as a "Halloween" film considering that Michael was much more human in this film and looked like a hillbilly hobo in the scenes without his mask. Had this simply been a slasher movie by Zombie I would have enjoyed it much better.
The whole concept that this was supposed to be Michael Myers in a Halloween movie was hard for me to fathom. It just didn't feel right.....not to mention the fact that the ogre like grunts and moans coming from Michael didn't seem right either. Couple that with the direction Zombie took Loomis' character and the lack of the originial creepy theme music, and this movie just felt all wrong to a Halloween fan.Comment
