Re: Seven Pounds
For those that want to know what it's about (putting it as a spoiler for those that don't want to know)...
SpoilerSmith's character has a big secret that he plans on commiting suicide over and wants to help 7 people before doing it.
This one is a spoiler-spoiler though, like big superly massive one that gives away part of the ending, just want to make sure I read it right...

Re: Seven Pounds
Dang, I'm so interested in watching this movie. I don't get "spoiled" by seeing plots unfold and stuff. The things you guys are saying are really making me interested in checking this sucker out. I'm not sure I'll like the ending part though. I was so trying to get a grasp of the movie through the trailer. I definitely am skeptical about taking the wifey because she's pregnant and I don't want the wrong type of hormones seeping.....but I'm interested.......

Re: Seven Pounds
I want to see it, but at the moment I have no one to go with. I might make the trip to see it by myself.
Will Smith never disappoints.Comment

Re: Seven Pounds
Looks interesting, but it's getting **** reviews on rottentomatoes; 31% and a 4.5/10 average.
I'll probably see it and enjoy it, but from I'm hearing so far it's a pretty mediocre movies.Comment

Re: Seven Pounds
Reviews are saying that the big reveal isn't that effective and you sit through two hours of tears and sadness just to get to it.
However, they do say that the ending helps give everything else meaning. No question in the film goes unanswered when you find out the deal with Smith.
One reviewer stated that there was no comedy or moments to help you deal with the sadness in the film. He gave that as a reason why he didn't enjoy it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

Re: Seven Pounds
I saw this today and I liked it. Honestly, I went in not really knowing what the movie was about. I had made some assumptions from the trailer and the title but was way off.
Overall, I thought Smith did a great job with the character and it's a nice movie.Comment

Re: Seven Pounds
If it weren't for Will Smith, it's possible all of those movies would have sucked.
Will Smith turned those movies into quality films. ID4 was great, Enemy of the State was good, Wild Wild West was kinda bad but Will Smith made it worth watching, Men in Black II was good, Bad Boys II was good, and Hitch was good.
Hitch and Wild Wild West would have been **** without Will Smith. He made those films tolerable. Look at where he was in Fresh Prince, and come back and look where he is now. I stick by my opinion that he is one of the best actors of this generation.Comment

Your really going to defend ID4, Wild Wild West and Bad BoysII?
