I used to watch it every morning growing up and during the summer I would walk SC multiple times during the morning. Now I can't even bare to watch it for more than a few minutes. There isn't any highlights, box scores, etc. it is just people talking and arguing now.
To be truthful, I think even 90 seconds of actual highlights would be a huge step up for Sportscenter. Here's a standard 90's clip that feels rather extensive, but comes well short of the 90 second highlight barrier:

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/7DucRYEnRLI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Even in the early 2000's, the random games seemed to be covered more thoroughly:

Nowadays, I feel I'd have to wait impatiently for 45 minutes for Sportscenter to reach a sidebar titled "Chauncey's Big Finish" whereupon they'd show his buzzer beater and call it good. Later in the day there might be a panel discussion as to whether Chauncey's shot is the clutchest regular season 3pt. shot ever in the history of the Pistons-Hawks matchup. It'd then be put to a SportsNation vote. LeBron James would edge out Tim Tebow.

I'm insanely biased, but I'm bummed to hear ESPN opted not to go with Detroit for hosting the XGames the next few years. I thought such a selection would have been interesting, unique, edgy, and spectacular. The possibility of the games coming to Detroit was one of the few things keeping me interested in ESPN (and the XGames). I'm sure Austin is nice but, blah.

Sidenote, I went to ESPN.com to read about the XGames decision but I couldn't find any headlines on the front page (I assume it'll make an appearance at some point later today). However, I was fortunate enough to read the top headline of the day: "Manziel: 'I'm still going to live life to fullest'" Thank god. I've been worried sick these past few days wondering if some guy was going to only be chasing his dreams at an 80% clip.

To be fair, there has been an ongoing story about how Manziel was asked to leave the Manning passing camp due to missing meetings and activities... Some thought it was because he was out partying before.

Now, should that have been a front page story in the first place? Nooooooo.

I know it's easy to bag on ESPN, and I agree with a lot of it, but I think they still do some things very well. The 30 for 30 series is fantastic, Outside the Lines does some great investigative reporting at times. The E:60 does some great reporting on stories you wouldn't hear many other places, and watching the ESPYs tonight was very entertaining to me.

There were also some great moments with Robin Roberts winning the Arthur Ashe award, Jack Hoffman winning the Best Moment award, and a story about a father/son marathon team from Boston.

          Okay, back to the bashing

True enough. I was going to edit out my "some guy" line but I must have become distracted. I wasn't familiar with the story until I turned on Sportscenter this morning for about seven minutes. I was awaiting news on the XGames location. Alas, it was pretty much wall-to-wall Manziel, and that's where I learned of the story. It was the first bit of SC I've watched in months and from the bits I see now, I'm sad to say I don't miss it.

I'm with you on just about all of that. I have not seen much of E:60 but I've heard alright things. Also, I did not watch the ESPY's so I cannot vouch for that. I kind of thought the Robin Roberts thing would go over well. Pretty legit.

I am quite familiar with Outside the Lines and 30 for 30 though, and I like both of those (particularly the latter). Not many complaints there. I just wish that mindset and quality would slide back into the rest of their programming.

Jesus, If you watched OTL today, Steve Wiessman talks about Arod, and he sounds like f'in moron. He calls Arod Today rod, Delay rod, Display rod, and a bunch of other stupid rhymes, seriously it was like something you would hear in a comedy.

              I hate ESPN.

So...that's what Outside The Lines has devolved into since Bob Ley left?

I'm not having a good day remembering certain things am I?

Well at least there's still SOME credibility on that network.

If we have a Fox Sports 1 thread I can't find it, so I'll ask here.

Fox Sports Live is on. I imagine it's fairly polarizing.

So what's everyone who watched it's opinion?

I personally love the two anchors, I like the joking. I hate the panel despite Charissa Thompson being hot. I don't care what Andy Roddick thinks about Mark Sanchez.

Yes please remove the panel and make it its own show if you want, but if you want to differentiate yourself from ESPN, you need to actually show highlights, not have former players talk about stuff. The panel is actually worse then ESPN as they have people talking about sports they didn't play.

I was actually kinda excited to see FS1 just to gauge if/how it was different from ESPN, and at worst it would still give me more options to watch games. But alas, it's not included in my rent-controlled Dish package

Those guys were the #1 anchor team on TSN for YEARS. Their style can be a bit annoying at times but they're buddies in the bromance vein of things and their podcast was a must listen (i'm sure they'll have a version of that for FOX at some point) I hope to find clips of them on youtube.
