Vista has been great for me. I consider myself a power user, and Vista has not failed me on two PCs (game pc and a laptop)

There isn't any point. It offers almost nothing advantageous over XP; and everything that it does improve on... Well, guess what? You can setup on XP if you want to/have the know how.

All Vista does is look pretty, and hog system resources. There's absolutely no valid reason to use Vista at this moment.

One thing I've noticed about Windows 7 so far, is they've gotten rid of the "classic" view. I haven't found a way to make it look like XP yet.

On top of that - I've heard people complain about the large taskbar -but there's an option to make it smaller, actually. So that's one thing I thought I'd point out.

So far, in my use of Win7, I'd say there are a lot of really useful features; although some things that seem like a bit of a downgrade, they make things not quite as easy or quick.

Probably meant XP. Or maybe MacOS.

The only reason I was really feeling Vista at first was the fact that I'd be able to play a few games and get those achievements instead of scooping them up for the 360. That was clearly a failed plan when M$ tried to charge and do all that other crap. Have they given any insight as to what improvements Windows 7 will have over Vista? I hate that I still have problems trying to play a few games on Vista still that would run smooth on XP.

Exactly. THATS why there is so much Vista hate. Sure for everyday home personal computing it gets the job done, but for IT and larger scale businesses its an absolute mess. My father's business is not allowed to run Vista, the business I work at bought all new computers last year and they all came with Vista. Two essential programs, and an essential piece of hardware that we use there was not compatible with Vista, so I got the pleasure of putting XP onto all those computers. So personally I loathe Vista and don't ever want to touch it again. It was just a horrible design choice and a mostly worthless upgrade (actually downgrade) to XP. Microsoft made Vista for home users, because they sure as hell didn't have the business world on their mind when they created it.

I got the beta running on my laptop today. Really like it so far. The taskbar is an improvement, it appears to run much quicker at this point, and the new build of IE8 in the Win7 beta is running really nice for me.

I've been running vista for a couple months now with no problems. I would've stuck with XP but I needed an OS to see all of my ram.

Yeah, things are running a little quicker for me on 7 than they have been on Vista. So far so good

I totally agree. I've had my new laptop for about 6 months now and I like the Vista OS

I finally got around to installing and setting everything up today at work and I must say I'm impressed so far.

They reworked many things from scratch which was must needed. Windows 7 also runs faster compared to the Vista OS that was installed on this machine previously.

I think they still have some work to do with the task bar, but so far it is looking pretty good.

Anyone else having issues with the screen flickering? Everything was fine on my laptop until I got Windows 7, now about every 10 seconds, the top 10% of my screen flickers

                                Nope, no problems here.

Is your screen/GPU drivers supported by Windows 7?
