Vista has been great for me. I consider myself a power user, and Vista has not failed me on two PCs (game pc and a laptop)Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Arsenal FC, Wildcats, Vols

Re: MS giving up on Vista? Windows 7 beta coming Friday
All Vista does is look pretty, and hog system resources. There's absolutely no valid reason to use Vista at this moment.
One thing I've noticed about Windows 7 so far, is they've gotten rid of the "classic" view. I haven't found a way to make it look like XP yet.
On top of that - I've heard people complain about the large taskbar -but there's an option to make it smaller, actually. So that's one thing I thought I'd point out.
So far, in my use of Win7, I'd say there are a lot of really useful features; although some things that seem like a bit of a downgrade, they make things not quite as easy or quick.Last edited by MC Fatigue; 01-11-2009, 03:02 PM.Comment

Re: MS giving up on Vista? Windows 7 beta coming Friday
Probably meant XP. Or maybe MacOS.
The only reason I was really feeling Vista at first was the fact that I'd be able to play a few games and get those achievements instead of scooping them up for the 360. That was clearly a failed plan when M$ tried to charge and do all that other crap. Have they given any insight as to what improvements Windows 7 will have over Vista? I hate that I still have problems trying to play a few games on Vista still that would run smooth on XP.Comment

Exactly. THATS why there is so much Vista hate. Sure for everyday home personal computing it gets the job done, but for IT and larger scale businesses its an absolute mess. My father's business is not allowed to run Vista, the business I work at bought all new computers last year and they all came with Vista. Two essential programs, and an essential piece of hardware that we use there was not compatible with Vista, so I got the pleasure of putting XP onto all those computers. So personally I loathe Vista and don't ever want to touch it again. It was just a horrible design choice and a mostly worthless upgrade (actually downgrade) to XP. Microsoft made Vista for home users, because they sure as hell didn't have the business world on their mind when they created it.Comment

I got the beta running on my laptop today. Really like it so far. The taskbar is an improvement, it appears to run much quicker at this point, and the new build of IE8 in the Win7 beta is running really nice for me.Comment

I've been running vista for a couple months now with no problems. I would've stuck with XP but I needed an OS to see all of my ram.

I finally got around to installing and setting everything up today at work and I must say I'm impressed so far.
They reworked many things from scratch which was must needed. Windows 7 also runs faster compared to the Vista OS that was installed on this machine previously.
I think they still have some work to do with the task bar, but so far it is looking pretty good.Comment
