Re: MS giving up on Vista? Windows 7 beta coming Friday
"I would like to buy a new Mazda MX-5"
"That will be $26,954, sir."
"For the 2005?"
"Oh no, I'm sorry, that will be $29,857."
XP downgrade costs more than keeping Vista.....very telling.
My wife bought her laptop with Vista. Now Vista makes me pista.Last edited by daflyboys; 01-14-2009, 10:31 PM.Comment

It's just another way to make people move on to the new OS.
Also you can only downgrade if you have Vista Ultimate or Vista Business or whatever it is called. Other wise you'll have to do a complete fresh install of XP.Comment

I have heard of that happening with Firefox. If its only happens in firefox then I think its just a firefox compatibility issue at this point.Comment

I think thats just what I've written it off as. Its annoying and makes me feel like I'm gonna have a seizure, but I seem to know how to make it go away now, so its all goodComment

I have Vista Home Premium on 2 of my computers and I like it. It's a lot better than XP. I think it got it's bad rap from pre-patch, earlier release days. I've not had one iota of problems from it.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Just curious - how is it a lot better?
I'd just like to see you list some reasons that actually make it better; preferably reasons that don't involve Vista's "features" which can pretty much all be implemented on XP in a way that's more efficient (taking less memory and running quicker).
I'm not trying to argue at all here, don't get that feeling - but I'd just like you to actually list some valid reasons that makes it so much better.Comment

Re: MS giving up on Vista? Windows 7 beta coming Friday
I have Vista and I don't hate it. I really don't see how it's any better than XP and I wouldn't have gotten it if it were not for getting my laptop last year, but I don't hate it. That said, I don't run a whole lot of programs and it's pretty much an internet/phone machine. And I think Vista's problems mainly lie in the programs department for businesses and such, which doesn't affect my usage.Comment

How? I'm curious about this. I know I prefer the left side myself because that's how I got use to it.Comment

I prefer the old way, too - and I haven't found a way to change it back.
As far as I've seen, there's no more "classic" options - so you can't change the task bar or start menu to classic XP, or anything like that. That's kind of an annoying change; but maybe I'm missing something.Comment
