No Eminem album will EVER touch Slim Shady LP.

I think the whole album is supposed to be the Slim persona. I remember reading somewhere that the track with T.I. is supposed to be a darker track with Em being Slim and TI being TIP.

Eminem is stronger when he's either real angry, real funny, or he has a point. When his message is "we do drugs, we're real cool, don't mess with us", he's just a generic rapper + better flow and word fragments, but when it's over the song was about nothing. I feel like after a Lupe song, I can sit down with someone and have a discussion about his ideas.

I think Lupe would surprise you guys if he ever went solely for meaningless word gymnastics.
Oh I agree, Lupe is tight too. Don't know if he would me make sit and have a discussion though(the ONLY rapper that could probably make me do that is Andre 3000 and Lupe ain't even close to that level yet)

It's a fact that people in the DMV have better musical tastes than other locations.

            Cebby and Pack,

I think you guys are taking my comment about discussion a little too seriously. I'm not saying Lupe is Descartes or anything, but from the content of his records, I get the feeling I could invite him to a panel to discuss crime, single parenthood and education, and he could not only express intelligent views, but could show how he put those views into his songs.

Looking forward to the new album. I just hope he sticks to some more of his darker style than his "funny guy" novelty crap that he went for with Encore.

I had heard rumours that Em had put on a bunch of weight and basically turned himself into a shut in but rumours are just that for reason i suppose and seem to be more wrong than right.....

The Eminem Show is my favorite.
IMO his best album lyrically...its before he got all goofy, but after he was overl physcotic.....You cant rap about slicing people open forever.

Encore was dissapointing...its like he went hard the first 6-7 tracks.......then came songs like "Rainman" lol(even though its still funny to listen to)

Thing is, what other artist can BS like that and still sell that many records?
One of the most telented MC's in the game....

No doubt. BTW, his Relapse freestyle and this new track are sub par IMO. I hope this album doesn't disappoint but I'm not having any high hopes.

As a whole this seems like a good quarter for hip hop, and hopefully a good year. Just in this 1st quarter we got:

                    Joe Budden new album.
Fabolous new mixtape. New album too, but that will be some mainstream bs.
                    Eminem new album.
Chamillionaire keeps dropping mixtapes, plus Venom which should be fire.
                    New Kiss.

Any word on the D-block/Lox album?

Also, we got Slaughterhouse to look forward too. And oh yeah a Joell Ortiz mixtape.

EDIT: Btw, me and my boys were talking about this, but damn the number of good/great rappers in the mid-to-late 90s was insane. Right now you have 5 maybe a lil more who are good. It's really crazy the drop off.

New Generation man. I've been trying to put my little cousin on to some real hip hop and he was like "If I can't snap to it or Crank That, then it's Wack!"

That's exactly what he said to me and I just shook my head and laughed at this fool. Hip Hop nowadays is about catchy hooks and garbage lyrics and piss poor production.

Sorry, but I thought the song was garbage. This coming from a guy who wore out Em's first two CD's. Just didn't feel it.

Side note: 50 rapping on the track reminded me of the greatest moment in my concert history...seeing 50 cent and the rest of G-Unit get mercifully booed off stage about 4 years ago. Funniest **** ever.

Rap has always been about catchy hooks. 80s, 90s, whenever.
