Everything Ive read, including numerous websites, has stated that the stimulus check is not taxable and does not effect your 2008 taxes because it was not a loan/advance and was merely a freebie given out by the government in an attempt to stimulate the economy.

I'm pretty sure the notice they sent out with the stimulus checks specifically said not to include the sum into your 2008 income. I'm not sure who started the whole "advance/loan" thing.

 Re: Circuit City to liquidate

FF, your CC Card is thru Chase, so no matter what happens to CC you will still owe Chase if you have any balances left on the account.

Secondly. Like I posted in the 1st CC Liquidation thread in early NOV. Once CC turns the merchandise over to the Liquidation company, the merchandise now belongs to that company & they set the price. CC is no longer in the picture. CC has no control over the prices set by the company & basically if you do own a CC Card it no longer is any good for purchases as a CC Card it now becomes a Chase Credit Card.

So I would be careful in thinking that CC is gonna just give stuff away @ low prices, because that's not the case..

They are handled by a 3rd party, so you will be covered. It is listed on the website now as well in their write-up near the bottom.Comment

OK, that's what I initially thought, but had no real backing on it. Thanks for the clarification.Comment

I don't get it, you can't just go charge things on your CC card like a CC anywhere, if they send me a chase card, I will close very quickly, my card is free of anything on it, and if Chase think there slick and try to keep the APR rates like they were for CC they have another thing coming, because the card will be closed in no time.FF, your CC Card is thru Chase, so no matter what happens to CC you will still owe Chase if you have any balances left on the account.

No you can't FF. That CC Card is no longer good as a CC Card. Right now I have a CC Rewards Card with a VISA LOGO on it, but my statements come from CHASE. That card now is no longer a CC Card/Chase Credit Card. It is now only a Chase Credit Card.I don't get it, you can't just go charge things on your CC card like a CC anywhere, if they send me a chase card, I will close very quickly, my card is free of anything on it, and if Chase think there slick and try to keep the APR rates like they were for CC they have another thing coming, because the card will be closed in no time.

yeah the card says chase on the back and thats it, I would never use it as a regular card, the APR on these cards are through the roof.No you can't FF. That CC Card is no longer good as a CC Card. Re: Circuit City to liquidate

So I know that their extended warranties are covered by a third party, but what if I have my Xbox 360 at the Circuit City warehouse awaiting a repair or replacement? I have yet to receive anything back yet and their phone number that I usually call for the warranty is currently "experiencing technical difficulties."

Am I ever gonna get my 360 back?Comment

Went to a CC on my lunch break, all the signs in the store were down and they were pretty much giving them away. I imagine the 'deals' will start tomorrow.Comment
