Re: Oscars 2009
The thing that I hated was that Twilight got exactly as many shots in the tribute as Saw got... one.
How is it that Twilight is a horror movie (and they just show off Stewart and Lautner)? How is it that Saw didn't get more? I was surprised to even see at least two clips of The Ring (one was pretty revealing as well).
And then he gets to smash Mila Kunis.Comment

Re: Oscars 2009
I do know that a lot of screeners of films in the theater get sent out for academy members to watch at home. Now if they watch them or not its anyone's guess.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Oscars 2009
Would've liked to see Up in the Air pull off two wins (Best Picture/Best Actor) but The Hurt Locker was a great film so no arguments for me on that.
I haven't seen Crazy Heart, so I can't say if Bridges was better than Clooney, but I thought Clooney's performance was easily one of the better ones I've seen in the past year or two. I assume Bridges gave a good performance in the movie, though, so I'll have to check that one out soon.
Other than that...I would've liked to see Cameron win Best Director because of how much effort he put into piecing together Avatar and actually making it come to life, but oh well.Comment

Re: Oscars 2009
I love all these people who've come up to me at work today talking about how Avatar was robbed for best picture because it was so visually and technologically groundbreaking and incredible.
They should really invent other Oscars besides best picture, for movies that are visually amazing but have a completely formulaic and derivative story. And they should be in the categories of art direction, cinematography, and visual effects. And Avatar should win them.

I can see Hurt Locker as best picture (though I thought Up in the Air was the best) but I think Avatar should have ran away with Director and the technical awards that Hurt Locker won. Hurt Locker struck me as more of a good movie than a well made movie while Avatar was the opposite.Comment

Re: Oscars 2009
Umm ........ so has the fluffing of the Best Actor and Actresses Nominees ended yet?
Thank god the most over-rated movie of all-time didn't win Best Picture.
Sandy didn't deserve to win Best Actress since her performance wasn't anything special but it's hard to root against someone that also showed up to collect her Razzie award in the same week. I cracked up when she appeared on stage pulling a cart full of All About Steve DVD's that were to be given out to the people in attendance.
Hopefully Gabourey Sidibe enjoyed her Oscar experience because that's the last time she will be invited. Hollywood won't be knockin' when it looks like you weigh 4 bills.
What the hell was Sean Penn talking about?Last edited by aholbert32; 03-09-2010, 12:03 AM.Comment
